The Secret Place of the Most High

By D.J. Ownbey
My spiritual quest has taken all over the world. I have read hundreds of books,
attended workshops, and traveled to far away places to study with spiritual
teachers, gurus, and yogis. All along the power was within me… The power that I
speak of is the sacred self, the divine self, the inner master, inner Buddha, the
Christ Consciousness, or simply “frank”—in other words it doesn’t matter what you
choose to call it—it is universal and it is in you!

Gandhi once said, “God has no religion,” the more I study and practice different
systems of spirituality I see the truth of this statement. Truth is truth. Many of the
worlds problems could be resolved if more people embraced spirituality as opposed
to religion—or even better yet spirituality and religion.

Today, I was thinking about all the different techniques that I have tried over the
years. Which ones I have felt produced the most results in my life. Results
meaning which techniques improved my life in the most in practical ways—Number
one on the list ?---it has to be daily meditation.

I can recall when I first started, it seemed impossible—as my mind goes quick and
my attention used to wander. So, I felt, the practice of meditation was absolutely
futile for me.

I did not give up…I kept the practice up (wow!) -I can do it-and so can you…! The
results are so spectacular in my life that i will let you see them for yourself, as I
have learned never to tell more then people are likely to believe (some things are
just to good not to be true). Give meditation a consistent and persistent try for
ninety days— and I am confident you will never stop.

Allot of amazing scientific studies have been conducted documenting the benefits of
daily meditation---it is no longer “hocus pocus.” A study was done by two
researchers, (Joshua Grant and Pierre Rainville) indicating the practice of Zen
Mediation can alleviate pain. Emory University Researchers are looking at the way
that daily meditation actually changes the brain, they hope to use these findings in
the treatment of Parkinson's disease and attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder
(ADHD).

A recent article I read by Seda Terzyan indicated that meditation and mindfulness
training increases the immune system and is being used to help aids patients.

The studies are everywhere documenting the benefits of meditation--- the other
benefits the practice of daily meditation does that the studies can not “yet” track
are even more amazing.
Here I am going to show you the best way I have found to embark on the journey it
is by no means the only way—but a simple, quick, and easy way to start:

Step One: It is helpful to take a nice hot sea salt bath prior to meditation (sea salt
from the Dead Sea is most powerful, in my opinion). When you want to come out of
the tub pull the plug and as all the water drains feel all negativity and heaviness
being sucked out of you and going down the drain with the water. This step is not
necessary, but very helpful in many ways to cleanse one of negative energy, as we
live in a very toxic world.

Step Two: Find a comfortable place to sit; over the years I have found a bean bag
up against a wall with spine straight and legs crossed (half lotus position) or a
comfortable reclining chair. It is best to face the east; this is the direction of the sun
rise.

Step Three: You will want to use some type of soft music in the background; I like
“Shepard Moons” by Enya.

Step Four: I also use a scent, opium oil, (not the drug lol- found mine on eBay
reasonably priced) I dab a small portion on my nose just before I meditate. After this
scent is used along time in meditation, the moment you smell it your body will start
to relax---so then you can use this in a stressful situation--just dab a small amount
on nose and it is like taking a spiritual valium lol. More about the benefits of mind
association with words or scents can be found in “Relaxation Response” by Herbert
Benson, M.D.

Step Five:

Close your eyes forget who you are where you are--when a thought comes to your
mind let it fly away like a bird. You are not in the city you may live and you are not –
your body, your career, your things, or anything else you have misidentified yourself
with—“you are” perfect whole and complete as god created you. Merge with the
divine. Tap into the perfect you, the sacred self. For this is where your true power
is…

In the beginning, it is normal to have thoughts pop up--it is ok--just let them fly
away ( like birds) and return your focus to the music or the center of the forehead--
the third eye.

Start with 10 mins a day, consistency is most important. You will find that you are
quickly able to increase this time. Turn off all phones and electronic devices; this is
your time with the divine. Also, try chanting the word “A-U-M” if you find that your
mind wanders. Its ok! This is like art so there is no right or wrong way to do it.

Prayer is when you talk to God and meditation is when God talks to you. Often you
will get direct guidance from meditation on how to proceed in some challenging
situation. If you don’t feel anything this is ok. Even though you are not feeling
anything, god energy is coming into your being cleansing you at a deep level both
physically and emotionally. After you do this for a year you will notice that you are
healed in so many ways. You will notice allot more abundance and happiness in your
experience. You will also notice a host of psychic powers. The other day, I was
driving in my car, had a consultation with a client, so, I had to get food fast. I was
thinking, “I could go for a piece of cheese cake now.” The restaurant where I was
well they didn’t carry cheese cake.

Later, my client, who works at a restaurant, came running in the door to my office.
She said, “Sorry I am late, but I just had a strong feeling, “ I should bring you some
cheese cake!”

This is just one small thing that has happened to me that I accredit to daily
meditation. Amazing and miraculous things I saw in India, that the master gurus
and yogis can do (the miracles that Jesus did)— and it all starts with daily
meditation. If you are interested in learning about the powers these gurus and
yogis have “Life and Teaching of the Far East” by David Spaulding is the closet to
what I witnessed.

In the beginning, you will find guided mediations to be very helpful here are some
that I find particularly helpful:

“Chakra: Guided Meditations To Unleash Your Full Potential” by Chitra Sukhu

“Crystal Voices” by Deborah Van Dyke and Valerie Farnsworth

“Awakened Mind System” by Dr Jeffory Thompson
