SCOTT FIRST RESPONDER RESPIRATOR (FRR)

DESCRIPTION
Scott FRR is a new respiratory protection system based on the successful design of the Scott GSR (General Service Respirator) that has recently been accepted into service with the UK MoD. The FRR system is based on a platform mask that is compatible with conventional round filters with a Din 40 thread, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) and Scotts global range of Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and compressed air airline breathing systems. With a single mask fit test FRR offers the ultimate in operational flexibility to First Responders.

the platform mask

Manufactured from Chemical hard materials that have proven comfort characteristics for 24 hour wearing. Twin reverted edge primary seals to combine comfort with high protection and self adjusting fit during face movement Flexible , hard coated single lens featuring minimal haze and excellent light transmission characteristics, providing a wide field of view and impact protection in excess of the requirements of EN166 Class 1. Range of head-harness options Best In Class integral drinking system with fluid uptake in excess of 0.5 lpm as required. Proven integral speech diaphragm that also provides a cost effective interface with radio and voice amplification systems without the need for potting microphones in each mask. Simple level 1 & 2 maintenance Best in class exhalation resistances in air purifying mode Hood integration features Vision correction capability that includes the use of progressive (vari-focal) lenses. Filter can be left of right of mask worn. Designed for 100% population fit in age range 18-65 years. Rebreathed CO2 levels significantly below 1% Can be used with Din 40 mm threaded military/ Law Enforcement or a wide range of Industrial filters Harness system can be locked off to allow for consistent fit. Mask within a Mask. Secondary Filter and automatic sweat clearing system offers superior comfort

certifications and approvals

The FRR mask is designed to exceed the requirements of the following international standards for facemasks: AS/NZ 1716:2003 EN 136-1998: Class 3 EN8468-2: 2006 NIOSH CFR 42 part 84

Operational flexibility with PAPR, SCBA and airline

The FRR can be configured to operate either singly or in any two combinations of APR, PAPR or Positive Pressure breathing apparatus (SCBA or airline supplied). Configuration is simple. When either SCBA or PAPR is operationally required the exhalation valve cartridge is changed in the FRR to one of higher resistance. The 40mm thread on both sides of the Scott FRR mask is compatible with filters and PAPR hoses with 40mm male connections. When SCBA is required a simple adapter is screwed into either the left or right hand fitting which provides compatibility with the Scott Positive Pressure Tempest Demand Valve. When two forms of respiratory equipment are required and fitted the wearer can switch between the RPE modes seamlessly in the hot zone so for example, the operation is known to potentially require both air purifying filtration and supplied air positive pressure capability. The FRR mask is set up with a filter on one side and the Tempest Demand valve on the other and the higher breathing resistance exhale cartridge is selected. The SCBA is donned and the cylinder switched on. They can then proceed down range protected by the Air Purifying filter until their activity or warning devices require higher specific respiratory protection. Simply by covering the end of the filter and breathing in hard the first breathe mechanism in the demand valve is activated and positive pressure breathing from the supplied air cylinder is provided. When the operation requires reversal to filtered air protection the demand valve is deactivated by pushing a simple button on the demand valve. The Scott FRR has been designed to easily accommodate light or right handed shooters, ensuring operational flexibility for all users.
