February 25, 2013 Southeast Asian Service Leadership Network (SEALNet) P.O. Box 19739 Stanford, CA 94309 recruit@sealnetonline.org
Dear Applicant, Thank you for your interest in SEALNet. SEALNet works throughout Southeast Asia to promote the spirit of service leadership and to contribute to the development of future Southeast Asian leaders. The following application is for university students who would like to participate in our two-week long summer service leadership projects. If you are a local high school student interested in joining our projects, please check the project-specific pages on our website for updates on the selection process. Attached you will find a paper copy of our application to be a member of one of our summer projects. Please feel free to print out the application, write on it, or fold it into a paper airplane, but remember that your application must be submitted to us online by 11:59 PM PST March 24, 2013 at http://www.sealnetonline.org/apply/project-application/. On the following pages, you will find general guidelines on the application process as well as the application questions themselves. You may apply for a maximum of two projects and you will be asked to rank those projects either as your first or second choice. Any duplicate submissions in an attempt to apply to more than two projects will negatively affect your application. All of us at SEALNet thank you for your interest in our organization. We look forward to reading your application and hope to meet you in Southeast Asia this summer. Please feel free to forward this opportunity to anyone that you think might be interested. Sincerely Yours, SEALNet Recruiting Team

Project Philippines Cebu 1. Many of the students we will be working with in the Philippines attend schools that adhere to Catholic values and teachings. How do you feel about this and how would you go about navigating this system while respectfully implementing change through our project? 2. Tell us about an idea, dream, or goal you currently have that is some way related to Project Philippines 2013. How would you go about accomplishing it? What steps would you take to bring yourself closer to achieving it? Be creative! Project Philippines Leyte 1. Here's a challenge to think on your feet now -- assume you are supposed to give a team workshop on a science and engineering topic for the project. Unfortunately, you lost your bag containing all the materials which were very essential to your topic of choice, and have twenty minutes to come up with a new activity with your team to teach the group of high school students. Explain how you will go about solving this problem. 2. There are many projects in SEALNet. Please tell us about why you want to join Project Philippines - Leyte. If you had to convince a friend to join a community service project in the Philippines incorporating science and engineering in its core vision, what would you tell them? Project Vietnam 1. Share with us an activity that could be implemented during our project that would include the participation of both SEALNet team members and people with disabilities. 2. Share with us a creative work that you are proud of (a writing excerpt, video clip, picture of your painting, etc.). (For writing excerpt, you can enter the text here. For other non-text entries, write the publicly available URL to your work.)
