Sako history begins when the company was founded in the early 1920s. Sako has come a long way from nearly total hand manufacturing to todays computer aided R&D and CNC manufacturing. Nevertheless we have not forgotten the value of traditional gunsmithing. Thats why we still do some critical areas by hand. A good example of this is our inspection of each barrel visually and then shooting it manually for proof and accuracy. All our rifles comply with CIP and SAAMI requirements. At the turn of the millenium, Sako became an honored member of the Beretta Group. Sako gained access to new and refined production methods, which in turn enabled us to intensify our product development. The Sako model 85 was developed, based on the vast experience gained from the success of its predecessors. Our Sako 85 rifles have the worlds most advanced turnbolt action in 6 different action sizes. For the hunter this means tailor made and specific purpose rifles in each selected caliber. Further, the model A7 was developed to give hunters access to a medium priced Sako rifle. Not sacrificing first class workmanship or accuracy, but by optimizing the available action sizes and parts. We also manufacture the Sako Quad series, the worlds first rimfire bolt-action rifle with interchangeable barrels. This is the all-in-one rimfire package, for the serious rimmfire enthusiast. Sako also produces the well-known Tikka T3 rifle series. Aimed at the entry-level hunter, but loaded with the expected Sako quality and performance, its model range is so extensive that it is presented in its own catalogue. We are also a highly regarded manufacturer of military and law enforcement rifles. Our TRG model and the Tikka TAC are in active service duty all around the world. In addition to rifles, Sako produces centerfire cartridges. We make 90 different loads in 30 popular calibers, for all hunting and target purposes. The Sako 85 series offers different stock styles and barrel options. These options, combined with a comprehensive caliber selection, will give you the ultimate bolt action rifle. Barrel
All Sako 85 barrels are manufactured with the very best knowledge and passion of Sako. Barrel blanks are drilled, honed, cold-hammer forged, finished and finally individually inspected by a highly refined optical fine tuning instrument: the human eye. Twist rates are chosen for each caliber to optimize accuracy and bullet performance. Sako 85 barrels, blued or stainless, have a non-reflecting, satin-like surface, except for the Sako 85 Deluxe model that has a highly polished finish. Sako 85 stainless steel barrels are made from stainless steel, fortified with high chromium content for better weather resistance and durability of the bore.

Extractor & Ejection

The Sako 85 has the famous extractor claw, made of durable heat treated steel. When the bolt brings the case back, the mechanical ejector fork ejects the case out of the rifle. The ejector is in the bottom of the rear bridge, not on the bolt face.

Sights
Most of the Sako 85 models with blued barrel finish are offered with standard or optional adjustable iron sights. The front bead is adjustable in elevation and the rear blade in windage.

Stock
The ergonomics of Sako 85 walnut and synthetic polymer stocks are optimized to give the best shooting posture. Excellent balance and smooth bolt operation enables fast, straight and accurate operation.

We value our customers. To be absolutely sure of the performance of all Sako rifles, we test each individual rifle. We do not guess or assume - we test. Every rifle is delivered with the certification of proof test and accuracy.

Magazine

The staggered, two-row magazine of the Sako 85 is of stainless steel construction. The detachable magazine can also be loaded through the ejection port. The Total Control Latch (patent pending) of the Sako 85 prevents accidental magazine releases.

Trigger
The weight of pull of the single-stage Sako 85 trigger unit is adjustable from 1 to 2 kg (2 4 lbs). An optional single-set trigger is available for most Sako 85 models. An extremely durable, all steel trigger guard protects the trigger of all Sako 85 rifles (except for the model Finnlight, which has a lightweight hard anodized aluminium trigger guard).

Action
Sako 85 actions are available in 6 different sizes (CSA), providing reliable and optimized function to each caliber. All Sako 85 models feature controlled cartridge feed (RCS) to eliminate double feed or cartridge jams. The turnbolt handle places the hand in a natural position during bolt operation, which allows for rapid repeated firing.

Safety
The special 2-way Sako safety locks both the trigger and the bolt handle. The unique bolt release button of the Sako Safety System allows you to load or remove a cartridge from the chamber with the safety engaged.

Bear Series
The Black Bear, Brown Bear, Kodiak and Grizzly are purpose built weapons for bear hunters. All four Bears feature adjustable special fast target acquisition iron sights and detachable staggered 2-row steel magazine with TCL preventing unintentional magazine release. All can be top-loaded and have controlled cartridge feed, adjustable single stage trigger and a barrel band for front swivel plus mechanical case ejection. They are also equipped with integral dovetail rails for secure scope mounting.

Grizzly
The Sako 85 Grizzly adds prestige to the Sako Bear Series. The elegant look and warm feel of the high-grade walnut stock combined with a medium contour fluted barrel and blued action.

Kodiak
The Sako 85 Kodiak was designed with the true hunter in mind. The straight, weatherproof stock is made of grey laminated hardwood and reinforced with two cross-bolts. Short, free floating medium contour barrel features adjustable open sights and band type front swivel. The barrel is cold hammerforged by Sako, using high grade alloy stainless steel. The bolt, receiver and detachable magazine are also made of stainless steel, to give long reliable service in severe weather conditions.

Optilock bases and rings are machined from a solid block of steel, Cr-Mo alloy or stainless, just like our rifles. The front bases have a solid angled left side and a similarly angled right side with a clamping device. This base design connected to Sako rifles integral dovetail rail allows you to adjust the horizontal position of
