Procedure Part 1: Introduction and Interview on Familiar Topics (4-5minutes) The examiner asks you questions on familiar subjects

such as your home town or village work or studies. These are the easiest questions, designed to put candidates at ease. You will then be asked 2 sets of questions from Part 1 further Topics Part 2: Individual Long Turn (3-4 minutes) You have one topic to talk about for 1-2 minutes. You have 1 minute to prepare for this task. Part 3: Two-Way Discussion (4-5) minutes The topic in Part 3 is related to the topic in Part 2. So if, for example, Part 2 was about a teacher, then Part 3 might be about Education

The environment. What kind of threats are there to the environment in your country? Do you think your country is protecting the environment enough? Is the environment very important to you? Why/why not? Magazines. What sort of magazines are popular where you live? When do you think is the best time to read magazines? Why? Do you think reading magazines can stop people from reading books? Why/why not? Physical Activity. Do you play any sports? Which sports do you play? Which sports are most popular for watching in your country? Is this the same for men and women? Daily Routine. Are all your days the same? Whats a typical day? How do you spend a typical weekend? What would you like to change? What is the balance of work/study? Food What kind of food do you like? What are typical foods in your country? Is cooking a mans or womans job? How do you like foreign food? Technology. Do you use a computer? Which age-group do you think finds technology most difficult? Do you think technology only helps us, or are there some disadvantages too?

Health. Are there many hospitals where you live? Do you think smoking should be prohibited in public? Why/why not? What kinds of exercise do you think are the best for your health?

Markets. What kinds of markets are there where you live? Do you prefer to go shopping in traditional markets or in supermarkets? Why? Do you think that there will always be markets in your country? Buildings. Is there a building you particularly like in your country? Do you prefer to see new buildings or traditional buildings? Why? Is there enough housing in your country? Learning English. How long have you been learning English? Where did you learn? What is easy/difficult? What opportunities do you have to speak? Is it important? Food. Do you like cooking? What is your favourite meal? Do you think that people will eat the same things in twenty years as they eat now? Why/why not? Traveling in your country. Where do people like to go on holiday? Have you ever been abroad? Did you enjoy it? Why? Is it easy to travel within your country?

Part 2: Individual Long turn (you will be asked questions from 1 topic) Now Im going to give you a topic and Id like you to talk about it for one or two minutes. Before you talk, you will have one minute to think about what you will say. You can make some notes. Here is a paper and pencil for you to make some notes if you wish, and here is your topic.

Describe the happiest person you know. You should say: - who they are - how you know them - how long you have known them and explain why they are the happiest person you know. Describe a special meal that you remember having. You should say: - where you had the meal - who you were with - why it was special and explain why to you remember it so well Describe an exciting experience. You should say: - where and when it occurred - who you were with - what happened exactly and explain why it was exciting for you. Think about a sporting person that you admire You should say: - who this person is - what sport they do - how successful this person is and explain why you admire this person Describe a teacher who has influenced you in your education. You should say: - where you met them - what subject they taught - what was special about them and explain why this person influenced you so much.

Describe a favourite item of clothing: You should say: what it is when and how you got it when you wear it and say why you like it more than your other clothes Describe a film or a TV programme which has made a strong impression on you. You should say: - what kind of film or TV programme it was, e.g. comedy - when you saw the film or TV programme - what the film or TV programme was about and explain why this film or TV programme made such an impression on you. Describe a film that you really liked: You should say: what it was about when you went to see it with who you went with and say why you really liked that film Describe a typical day in your life when you were a child: You should say: some of the people you saw what you ate who looked after you and say what you most enjoyed doing Describe a wedding you have been to: You should say: who got married what happened during the ceremony something that you remember very well about the day and say what you most enjoyed about the wedding Describe a book that influenced you: You should say: what it was about when it was written why you decided to read it and say why it had a strong effect on you Describe a child that you know that is special for you: You should say: who the child is what the child is like as a person what the child looks like and say why this child is so important to you

Describe someone in your family that you really admire: You should say: what relation this person is to you what are your first memories of this person how often you see this person and say why you really admire this member of your family Describe a party that you have been to that you enjoyed: You should say: who gave the party why you were invited who was at the party and say why you really enjoyed that party Describe a teacher that you remember from school: You should say: what the teacher taught you what was good about the teacher what you didnt like about the teacher and say if you think this teacher changed your life in any way Describe a friend that you really like to spend time with: You should say: when and how you met how often you see this friend what kind of personality your friend has and say why you like spending time with this particular person Describe a photograph that means a lot to you: You should say: what it shows who took the photograph when it was taken and say why this photograph is so important to you Describe a place where you feel happy: You should say: where it is who you like to go there with what you enjoy doing there and say what makes this place special for you Describe a holiday you have had: You should say: how you traveled what activities you did on holiday who you went with and say if you would recommend that holiday to a friend

Part 3: Two-Way Discussion
