IMPRESSION
Binh Duong province is located on the
southeastern region of Vietnam. Binh
Duong has a tropical climate of wet
and dry season with an average
humidity of 75%.

Binh Duong weather is characterized

by heavy rainfall throughout the year
with an average rainfall of 1 800 mm
annually about (150 rainy days per
year). Most of the precipitation begins
in May and ends in late November,
while the dry season lasts from
December to April.

The average temperature is 28 ºC

SITE ANALYSIS
The site is lined by two major arterial roadways on the
northern and eastern boundaries which means the site is
subjected to heightened noise levels.

OIC 3 A minimal 30 meters setback has been incorporated into

G TAIO L the design layout along these edges to, disperse some of
N
NOOO the noise emanating from the roads. These setbacks are
lined with trees that serve as a green edge and a vital
function to buffer the site from the surrounding roads and
development.

NOISE BUFFER
Although there are heavy downpour, Binh Duong
province has very high direct solar radiation throughout
the year.

Most of the buildings are designed to take the form of a

long thin strip arranged in a cluster manner. The long
sides of the building is orientated to face north-south
directions, where this plays an important role to minimize
heat gain and glare effect.

NORTH - SOUTH ORIENTATION

A generic study indicates the prevailing wind
direction is from the southern side (south-east &
south-west) assuming that the surrounding
development does not interfere with the wind
speed and direction.

On the southern half of the site, the buildings are

distributed in greater porosity around landscapes
decorated with water elements (like fountain, pond,
etc). The prevailing wind, cooled down by these
water features and bring cool wind to the northern
half of the site.

PLANNING DESIGN APPROACH

Vehicular circulation throughout the site takes the
form of a ring road, generally following the
boundary of the site. This ring road is accessed
by four separate points where the main access
point (grand entry) will be on the eastern edge
along Nooong Taio Loic 3. Numerous points
along the ring road are strategically designated
as drop-offs and parking area (covered & open)
to encourage comfortable walking distance to
individual faculty blocks.

VEHICULAR CIRCULATION
In Vietnam context, the nature of transportation for the
students are primarily motorbikes. There is therefore more
parking area will be allocated for such means of transport.
All parking, open or covered will be provided on the ring
road adjacent to each of the faculty blocks but facing the
gable end to minimize noise impact.

PARKING STRATEGY
While the main vehicle circulation is located at
the peripheral, they play an important role in
providing access to the site, linking to a network
of pedestrian walkways, which are designed to
be accessible by emergency vehicles as well.

FIRE ENGINE ACCESS

Circulation on site is laid out in hierarchical
manner. The access points to the site takes the
form of boulevards, that to celebrate grandeur ,
converges at the central of the university.

The core of the university will be the Campus

Green, which serves as the main communal
space, may it be for light recreation,
congregation of informal learning activities, or
for relaxation where students can lingers
around in a beautiful landscape decorated with
artificial ponds, floras, and connecting pavilions.

The bulk of the common facilities are situated

on the eastern side, flanking the forum and the
main entry, creating a gesture of grand
welcome into the campus. This together with
other buildings (faculty blocks, living quarters, &
auditorium) are tied together by layers of ring
circulation, from the perimeter ring road to the
pedestrian covered walkways within the
campus.

HUBS
The pedestrian circulation network defines the
part of the university characteristics. At the
edge of the site, a sidewalk moves around the
site accompanied by the ring road to serve the
parking spaces provided at the edges of the
site. Boulevards were incorporated to define a
substantial link between the sidewalk and the
interior of the campus.

To the interior, the boulevards will connect

adjacent buildings to the Campus Green, the
core of the university. The core or the Campus
Green itself is an interconnected web where all
boulevards converge and at the same time it
connects various hubs (faculty blocks), facilities
and buildings via a generous covered
landscape corridor.

facilities may varies in different faculty
blocks pending on requirements. The
faculty blocks are laid in pairs to form a
hub, where in each hub, students share
certain facilities like the food outlet and
the common court. This spaces are
integral to provide the students with an
amenity that encourages congregation of
students for the sake of recreation,
studying and simple relaxation.
