A: Portal Development Insights (PDI).

This is a compilation of insights, questions & guidelines used for portal development
projects. The questions/ guidelines are structured in two sets of documents: 1. Website
Features Analysis (completed by the client or in consultation with the client) & 2.
Usability Analysis Brief (completed by the Client Services

Department in consultation with the Production department

1. Website Features Analysis (Client):


a. This is a structure set of questions aimed understanding :
i. The Clients business
ii. The objectives of the clients web portal
iii. The features on the portal that will help the client realise their objectives
iv. The target users of the portal and their online habits
v. The content development requirements
vi. The content management requirements

2. Usability Analysis Brief (Client Service Department)


a. This is a set of insights aimed at:
i. Inspiring a best-of-breed creative solution
ii. defining the end user goals of the portal
iii. referencing the clients brand identity in developing the portal graphic standards
iv. integrating the the clients offline marketing communications with the portal
experience

B. Information Design Guidelines (IDG)

1. Portal Sitemap (Information Architect) Checked by Chief Creative:


a. The objective of the Portal Sitemap is to provide a hierarchical listing of all the
navigation
sections, content sections, and features of the portal.
b. The sitemap is in the form of a:
i. content table or list
ii. A chart diagram
2. Portal Wireframes (Information Architect) Checked by Chief Creative
b. The objective of the wireframes is to:
ii. visualise the arrangment of content & navigation tools
iii. visualise the information flow of:
2. clickthroughs
3. user generated inputs
4. clickthrough confirmations
iv. test portal user scenarios

C. Software Development Guidelines (Snr Software Developer)


1. Production Brief
The objective of the Production brief is to inform the software development team of:
i. the technology platform:
ii. browser compatibility requirements
iii. hosting platform requirements
iv. content management requirements
v. database structure standards & requirements

D. Quality Assessment Guidelines (QAG)


The objective of the Quality Assessment Guidelines is to:
1. Test the software application against the Portal Sitemap
2. Test the HTML prototype against the Portal Wireframes & Sitemap
3. Test the CMS against the Content Management Requirements

Quality Assessment Report:


The report details:
1. the HTML prototype items that are in conflict with the Portal Sitemap
2. the CMS items that are in conflict with the Content Management Requirements
3. Any hosting platform incompatibilities
4. Broken links
5. Page loading durations
