Grammar A. THE PASSIVE VOICE


1.- Features
We use the passive to say what happens to the subject. When we use the passive, who or what causes the action is often unknown or unimportant. The passive can only be used with verbs taking an object (direct object, indirect object or prepositional object). If we want to say who does or causes the action we use by. However, this can be omitted.
