ABOUT SCMS, NOIDA

Symbiosis has always catered to the growing need of students and has continuously contributed towards the development of shared values and common identity. With over 30000 on campus students, Symbiosis has today come a long way since its inception in the 1970s by Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, Founder Director of Symbiosis and the Chancellor of the Symbiosis International University. It has provided the essential thrust to many students for doing something constructive for the Indian as well as international society. Our endeavor has always been to strive for excellence, and Symbiosis today is rated as one of the finest universities in the private sector in India. .Our focus is to develop core capabilities and skills of the students and provide them with a competitive edge to create, share, and use knowledge effectively for their easy absorption into the industry. SCMS, NOIDA campus has started with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and with future plans to provide higher education in management fields with the approval of SIU. It aims to become the most preferred, value based provider for management education and Research Centre for SIU. SCMS Noida is located in Delhi NCR region on the border of Delhi. It is only 14 Kms away from Connaught Place and 35Kms from Indira Gandhi International Airport New Delhi.

Symphenia

SYMPHENIA, an Inter-school Fest, is the kaleidoscope of creative skills of the young and enthusiastic students to demonstrate their creative skills. It has been planned as a one day mega event full of fun and frolic and a showcase of the very best in the world. SYMPHENIA will be a huge gathering of students from schools across the Delhi-NCR. The target group at SYMPHENIA would be students who are looking forward to showcase their passion. This fest would consist of the coolest, motivated and enthusiastic people. This platform would give the participants an opportunity to unleash their hidden talents in the variety of genres ranging from creative skills to painting, singing, dancing, and public speaking. The event is sure to leave fond memories for years to cherish.

DETAILS & RULES OF THE EVENTS

General Guidelines
1. Only students from Classes 11th and 12th can participate in these events. 2. REGISTERATION FEE: Rs. 100 PER EVENT AND Rs. 500 PER GROUP EVENT. 3. The participants are required to carry a valid Photo Id card of their respective School. Without Photo Id-Card the participants will not be allowed to participate in any of the events. Wearing the school uniform is mandatory. 4. The school has to send a letterhead mentioning the names of the participants. 5. Two faculty members can come with the participants. 6. Last date for online registration is 22nd October, 2013. 7. SCMS has the authority to restrict the number of entries per event. Participation for the events would be on first come first serve basis. 8. The participants can register for the event Online on http://goo.gl/uathN6 in order to save time and efforts. For more

No extra time would be allotted to the participants coming late. 11. The decision of the SYMPHENIA Organizing Committee will be final and binding on all participants. 12. SYMPHENIA Organizing Committee reserves the right to cancel any registration at any point of time during the event if the requisites are not provided. 13. Any behaviour denigrating or being disrespectful to women is strictly prohibited. 14. Usage of mobile phone while participating in any of the events is strictly prohibited. 15. SCMS, NOIDA makes no commitment, except as specifically mentioned herein. 16. SCMS, NOIDA reserves the right to make changes in any of the event if required.

NoteThe school bagging most number of prizes would be featured in our annual college magazine SYMPATRIKA and also a special prize for the same. Certificates would be awarded to the participants securing 1st, 2nd and 3rd position in each event.

EXTEMPORE
Rules & Regulation: Topics would be given on the spot. The total time given to the participant will be 6 minutes in all, out of which the initial 2 minutes would be for collecting the views to be expressed & the later 4 minutes to deliver the topic. The participant will have to speak for both for & against the motion. There should not be any repetition in the statements. The content should not deviate from the given topic. The decision of the judges would be final & binding. Participants will not be permitted to refer to any other book or material before the preparation time.

LAFZ-E-BAYAAN: POETRY
Rules & Regulation: The theme would be given on the spot. The total time given to the participant will be 12 minutes in all, out of which the initial 10 minutes would be for writing the poem. Ten best poems would be short listed & would be recited by the concerned students in the remaining 2 minutes. No phrases or lines should be repeated. The decision of the judges would be final & binding.

AD-MAD
Rules and Regulations: Each participant would be given a product & they have to enact on an advertisement prepared by them for the same product. The total time given to the participant will be 15 minutes in all, out of which 12 minutes for preparation, 3 minutes to enact Time limit exceeded becomes entitled for negative marking. The decision of the judges would be final & binding.

WORKING MODEL DISPLAY

Rules and Regulations: The theme for working model display is Preservation of Natural Resources or Conservation of Environment Each participant would be given 6 minutes in all to explain the concept & the working of the model. The decision of the judges would be final & binding.

Ritz, Roll And Rock: SOLO DANCE

Rules and Regulations: Time Limit of maximum 3 minutes on stage. (Points will be deducted for exceeding the time limit). Costumes and props have to be arranged by the respective participant. 2 copies of CDs of Songs for the event are required to be submitted to the event coordinators at the registration counter.

RHYTHM DIVINE: SOLO SINGING

Rules and Regulations: Time Limit of maximum 3 minutes on stage. (Points will be deducted for exceeding the time limit). There is only one category for singing: Bollywood music Participant should bring his/her own instrument if required.

So You Think You Can Dance: DUET DANCE

Rules and Regulations: Duet Dance team comprises of 2 members belonging to the same School. Time limit of maximum 5 minutes on stage. (Points will be deducted for exceeding the time limit). Costumes and props have to be arranged by the respective teams. 2 copies of CDs for the event are required to be submitted to the event coordinators at the registration counter.

WAR OF THE BANDS:BAND PERFORMANCE

Rules and Regulations: Team size can be of 4-8 members. Performance time is 10-12 minutes Per Team including setting up of the instruments. Teams should bring their own Instruments.

STEP UP: GROUP DANCE

Rules and Regulations:

 The team comprises maximum of 6-8 members belonging to the same School. Time limit of maximum 6 minutes on stage. (Points will be deducted for exceeding the time limit). Costumes and props have to be arranged by the respective teams. 2 copies of CDs for the event are required to be submitted to the event coordinators at the registration counter.

CHEHRE PE CHEHRA: FACE PAINTING

Design and paint the face which can describe anyone or anything. Rules and Regulations: The team comprises of 2 members belonging to the same school (one painter and one model). Participants are required to bring their own material.

A brief description about the painting should also be given in the form of write-up (approximately 50 words). The Participants will be given 30 minutes. Painting should be done by paintbrush and sponge only. All paintings should be done by free hands. No stamps, no stencils and no airbrush allowed.

KALAKRITI : TShirt Painting

Wackiest and weirdest ideas together to fashion a brand new Tshirt and make others envy of having one Rules and Regulations: The team comprises of 2 members belonging to the same school. The theme would be given on the spot. Time allotted- 30 minutes. White plain T-shirt would be provided by the SYMPHENIA team. Members are required to bring their own coloring material.

Painted T- shirts will be property of SYMPHENIA team and it will not be returned to the participants.

RAINBOW: NAIL ART

Nail art, the practice of painting decorative designs on your fingernails, is a fun way to brighten up your everyday look or accessorize a special occasion outfit. Rules and Regulations: The team comprises of 2 members belonging to the same school (one painter and one model). Participants are required to bring their own material. The Participants will be given 30 minutes.

Magic of colors: RANGOLI

Rules and Regulations: The team comprises of 2 members belonging to the same school (one painter and one model).

KHANA KHAZANA- FOOD WITHOUT FIRE

No matter how much creativity goes into it, cooking is an art. Rules and Regulations: For Nutritious value a chart has to be prepared. Maximum time allowed for the preparation- 45 mins. Participants are required to bring their own material. Only vegetarian food. The team comprises of maximum 2 members belonging to the same school. Packaged food/ingredients are not permitted.

CAPTURE THE MOMENT- PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography records the gamut of feelings written on the human face, the beauty of the earth and skies that man has inherited, and the wealth and confusion man has created. Rules and Regulations: Theme for the photography event is Social Issues . 5 Photographs to be sent prior to the event on official email id: symphenia@scmsnoida.ac.in by 20th October 13. Participant should hold copyrights to the photos submitted. The participant should make sure that the intended subject is central and fully captured within the photos. Photos must not have watermarks, or if the watermark is cropped, photos still hold their value. Received photograph will be shortlisted by experts. The shortlisted Participants will have to capture 2 photographs in the SCMS, Noida campus for on the spot evaluation. Participants have to bring their own cameras and equipments. Criteria for selection of photographs-

1. Photo fit and relevance to category 2. Creativity 3. Technical quality.
