Sprays or atomized liquids are used everywhere, both in our daily lives and in industry. They facilitate precise fuel injection for our car engines and more efficient use of fertilizers for our crops; they allow us to produce food and powder using drying processes, as well as inhalers for many kinds of medicines. In all of these applications, validating and improving atomization methods requires precise and complete characterization of the spray dynamics: droplet size, velocity, concentration, mass distribution, mass flux, and spray shape.

Sample Results
Measurement results and documentation Dantec Dynamics' PDA software includes temporal and spatial distribution, statistical calculations such as mean diameter (D10), volume mean diameter, Sauter mean diameter (D32), flux and concentration, as well as extensive measurement validation criteria, so that measurement results can be documented. This information is available in numerous formats, including tabular, histograms, profiles and spatial distributions.

Whole-field size and velocity measurements with DynamicStudio IPI and Shadow Sizer
The Interferometric Particle Imaging (IPI) and shadow sizing techniques use cameras and a laser light sheet (IPI) or a backlight illumination (Shadow Sizer). Images are collected and analyzed by Dantec's DynamicStudio software imaging platform to extract size and velocity data of each particle in the imaged area, thus enabling you to perform extensive spatial, temporal and statistical analysis of the sprays.
Shadow image, left: the droplet and liquid ligament are identified thanks to advanced image analysis algorithms allowing discarding out of focused droplets. The droplet shape and orientation information is then extracted. Courtesy of SLA TU Darmstadt. IPI image, right: the droplet size is measured from the interferometric fringe patterns.
