Team-members should have equal speaking time No one talks while other individuals are speaking I will move around the room during the debate. If one person is talking to much I will give you a 1 minute signal and you will wrap up your statement I can tap a person on the shoulder to choose the next speaker Your teammates can help you, but everyone participates! Delegates should be taking detailed notes, I will walk around to check your notes throughout the debates. Each judge should have at least three specific questions on their note page to ask during the next segment. You will turn these in. 10 Minutes: Questions from Judges (NY Delegates)

Judges: Use your notes and ask specific questions to the affirmative position (federalists) & negative position (Anti-Federalists) Each side will respond to the questions Again, only one person talks at a time answers should be detailed but short 2 Minutes: Closing Statements from Affirmative & Negative Positions Federalists, then Anti-Federalists What is your final statement to persuade the judges to rule in your favor Be specific and concise.

Make sure your team is prepared to address each part of the debate detailed above. Grades are based on effort, participation, and accuracy of your information. If you are not participating I will tap your shoulder, indicating you must speak for your team at that point. It might be wise to assign roles to members of your group. Organization is key to being successful in this debate. You may want to think about assigning specific people to each part of the debate (Opening statement, affirmative position construction, negative position cross-examination, head to head debate, question responses). This is also a useful strategy while planning for your debate, assign individuals to read different sections, a note taker, a researcher, someone to organize who is speaking during which part etc. You have the next two class periods to prepare. Work Hard & Good Luck!
