An Educators Guide to Eweclid K-3 Math Facts

Overview Please watch our Demonstration Videos at Eweclid.com for more insight into Eweclid applications, technology and use at home or in the classroom. Eweclid Math K-3 is an adaptive, personalized Common Core Standards-based educational game designed for use at-school, at-home, and in home-schooling. Eweclid was designed by mobile app designers, elementary school teachers, curriculum experts, and iPad program administrators to help kids learn, apply, and retain math facts. Adaptive feedback (the Personal Tutor) provides customized bonus lessons for each student to lock in retention and manage areas for improvement. Kids get double-points for completing these reviews. Whats Included Eweclid Math K-3 includes Four Courses, one for each grade: Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Grade. The number of Chapters per course varies between 24 and 40. Each chapter includes 10 puzzles on average.

The Eweclid Personal Tutor Eweclid K-3 Math Facts V2.0 includes a free Personal Tutor Service for each student using the app. The Personal Tutor models each students individual mastery and retention of Math Facts and provides custom, personal bonus lessons for each student. These bonus lessons appear in the bottom left corner of the opening screen upon login. The application will change from the bright green motif to a dark grey motif when the Wolf appears. The Wolf brings the bonus lessons. Students are awarded double points for bonus lessons. Students should use their Eweclid Personal Tutor account for all their Eweclid apps (Math, Spelling, etc.). How to Use Preferences Preferences apply to all students using the app. If many kids will use the same iPad, as in a classroom setting, we recommend changing Chapter progression to OFF, and Classroom Mode to ON. Here are the details. Chapter Progression. For Math Facts, Eweclid requires a student to get 4 or 5 stars in a chapter to unlock the next. However, this requirement can be eliminated by turning Chapter Progression OFF in the Preferences screen.

Touch and Hold the Preferences icon (the Cog, bottom right) to open the screen. The tap the ON/OFF slider for Chapter Progression Classroom Mode. The Eweclid Personal Tutor Service is fundamental to classroom mode use. Classroom Mode allows kids to login on any iPad with the Eweclid App without setting up an account on that iPad. In this way, many kids can share many iPads in the classroom. Simple passwords (1-chracter if you wish) are supported so make logins easy and quick. If you buy Eweclid for your school, please contact us and we will help you setup the logins, if you like. About the Puzzles There are eight different types of puzzles that are used to implement the CCS. You can see these in the App under Help->Puzzle Types. Help is available for every puzzle by tapping the I button (top left of the review screen). For all K and 1st grade puzzles, instructions are read aloud. Feedback is provided for incorrect puzzles so kids can learn from their mistakes. Where needed, the screen acts as scratch paper kids can write with their finger to help solve more involved puzzles step-by-step.

Common Core Standard Implementation Eweclid Math K-3 is ideal for locking in what kids learn in school, improving performance in the classroom, or for home schooling to Common Core Standards. Eweclid K-3 Math Facts is based on 10/18/10 version of the U.S. Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. Puzzles teach and test Counting and Cardinality, Operations and Algebraic Thinking and Numbers and Operations in Base Ten what we call Math Facts; we plan to offer Geometry and Measurement and Data, and Fractions puzzles in future products. Following this description you will find detailed charts showing how the CCS is implemented in Eweclid Courses and Chapters. You can start with a Standard and find the Course and Chapter(s) that implement it; or you can start with a Eweclid Course and Chapter and find the Standard it relates to. How to use Eweclid in the Classroom and for Homework The best way to use Eweclid in the classroom is in support of spelling instruction. Here are some ideas about how to use the application in this way.

1) Allow students time to play chapters related to this weeks lesson plan. This will reinforce classroom instruction in a fun way for the students. 2) Allow students time to play bonus lessons. This is critical for retaining skills from previous weeks. Each student should have a Eweclid Personal Tutor account (contact us if you need help). The Eweclid Personal Tutor will provide customized Math lessons for each child based on their progress and retention. 3) For Math homework, make playing Eweclid at home an option for both this weeks lessons and especially for the bonus lessons. Tutor accounts

make sure student learning data and game data transfer automatically between home and school. Require students to repeat chapters until they get four stars for the chapter. Note that each time a chapter is played, the order of the puzzles in the chapter changes, the order of the answers within each puzzle changes, and for some puzzles, the incorrect answers (used as distracters) change as well. These changes help ensure that the students dont simply memorize puzzles instead they have to engage and think every time.
