- LA MATERIA DEL UNIVERSO LA MATERIA Y SUS PROPIEDADES: Los materiales que forman el universo: Todo el universo conocido est formado por los

mismos materiales. Los materiales que forman la Tierra son los mismos que los que forman la Luna, Jpiter o el Sol. Materia: Es todo aquello que tiene masa y volumen. Sustancia: Es cada uno de los distintos tipos de materia. Propiedades de la materia: Propiedades generales: Son las que tienen en comn toda la materia y nos permite reconocerla. Son propiedades generales: - La masa: es la cantidad de materia que tiene un cuerpo - El volumen: es el espacio que ocupa esa materia. Propiedades especficas: Son las que nos permiten diferenciar unos materiales de otros. - Algunas propiedades especficas son: el color, el brillo, el tamao, la forma, la dureza, la densidad, la elasticidad, etc.

MEDIDA DE LA MATERIA: Magnitud: Es cualquier propiedad de la materia que se puede medir, por ejemplo: el peso, la

longitud, la velocidad, etc. Medir: Es comparar una magnitud con la unidad, por ejemplo: 3 kg., 2 m., 50 km/h, etc. Sistema Internacional de Unidades (S.I.): Casi todos los pases del mundo han adoptado este sistema de unidades, de manera que casi todo el mundo medimos de igual forma. En la siguiente tabla podemos ver las unidades ms importantes:

Matemticamente se expresa as: m masa d= (densidad = ) v volumen La unidad ms importante para medir la densidad es el g / cm3, tambin se usa el kg / m3. Masa: es la cantidad de materia que tiene un cuerpo. La masa no vara de un lugar a otro, un cuerpo tiene la misma masa en la Tierra o el la Luna. Su unidad ms importante es el kg. Peso: Es la fuerza con que la Tierra atrae un cuerpo. El peso vara de un lugar a otro, un mismo cuerpo no tiene el mismo peso en la Tierra o en la Luna. Su unidad la estudiaremos ms adelante. Volumen: Es el espacio que ocupa un cuerpo, es decir lo grande o lo pequeo que es, su unidad ms importante es el m3, aunque los cuerpos ms pequeos se miden en cm3.

MATERIALES:
Los objetos estn fabricados con mltiples materiales. Cada material se selecciona cuidadosamente en funcin de sus propiedades. La creciente industrializacin exige que busquemos nuevos materiales para fabricar objetos novedosos o mejorar los antiguos materiales. Nuestro conocimiento cientfico tambin nos permite fabricar sustancias que nunca han existido. Por ejemplo recientemente se han inventado: medicamentos, insecticidas, plsticos, barnices, pinturas, fibras, etc.
