Through open-ended talk, inquiry and writing, we help others better understand their own idiosyncratic writing processes. We believe when students understand themselves as writers, they can adapt responsibly to a wide variety of rhetorical situations across the disciplines. Students from ALL disciplines, and at ALL stages of the writing process (prewriting, drafting, revising) come to the Writing Center to meet with trained consultants. There are also consultants on staff who have received additional training in how to support ESOL writers.

You can schedule an appointment by calling (215-572-4051), dropping by the Writing Center (Landman Library, Lower Level, emailing writingcenter@arcadia.edu or fill out our scheduling form, and a consultant will email you to confirm your appointment. Introduction

This course is being presented in an online fashion. It is important that you login on a regular basis (daily if possible) and work on a consistent basis to complete your requirements. Since we are not meeting face to face, it will be imperative that you participate in the weekly online conference meeting as scheduled. You will need to be self-motivated and try to stay as organized as possible. Developing a schedule would be a good idea. Also, the Cyber Caf is available for you to develop community outside of the course content. This course primarily consists of structured and systematic practice of exercises and dialogue from the textbook and on-line resources, i.e. http://www.MyChineseLab.com and Blackboard Unit Schedule The unit schedule will inform you what to study for the week. It is important that you login on a regular basis (daily if possible) to study the lesson materials, learn by heart the weekly lesson dialogue or narrative, and complete the weekly assignments on time. For most of the MyChineseLab exercises, you

will be able to get the feedback right away. This is a four-credit course, so it is recommended that you spend 6-8 hours a week studying the lesson vocabulary, grammar and sentence patterns, doing the online homework, practicing with the audio materials and memorizing the lessons. Memorization Much emphasis is placed on students memorization of basic vocabulary, sentence patterns and the lesson dialogue/narrative. Online Conference The online conference helps you practice and spontaneously utilize what you have studied from the lesson. Therefore, it is imperative that you come to the virtual classroom prepared! The online conference is meant for practicing conversation, NOT a lecture. You will learn the grammars, sentence patterns and vocabulary through MyChineseLab.com. The conference provides the opportunity of speaking Chinese with the instructor or asks questions. Email If you have any question, please do not hesitate to email the instructor. I usually check my email several times a week. Unit Schedule
