Whether for past accomplishments or future goals, why should voters elect you? My wife Beth and I have more than just lived in Beachwood for the last 17 years; whether by volunteering for Beachwood Rec, having our children in the schools or Beths work at Menorah Park, weve become committed to this community. Now, Im extending that commitment to our future, to ensure Beachwood is the leader in quality of life, outstanding schools and good

governance. As Beachwood approaches its second century, we are not without challenges. Our budget shows revenue is declining by almost $1 Million this year while expenses are increasing by $4 Million, resulting in deficit spending reducing our cash reserves. Top-notch services and programs distinguish Beachwood. However, maintaining the status quo will only result in another tax increase costing businesses and residents alike. Now is the time to tighten the belt and sharpen the pencil, before we have another crisis. We also have little room left for new homes, with only one large, undeveloped parcel. Businesses continue to grow closer to existing residential neighborhoods. Commerce Park and other aging buildings lack tenants, and unlike Chagrin Highlands, these areas solely benefit our Schools and City. Together, we need to build a Beachwood that remains a great place to work while protecting our neighborhoods. There has been a lot of news about Beachwood this past year, much of that being less than positive. Our community deserves better. A more transparent and responsible Council, with fewer closed door meetings and good fiscal controls, are important steps to rebuilding trust in our leadership. Thats what I intend to bring to City Council. NOTE TO CANDIDATES: Please be aware that this questionnaire will be published.
