HISTORY OF ACUPUNCTURE
Chinese Medicine, acupuncture and history have a an ancient and richly developed relationship. Lets begin our journey with the recent translation into Western culture around the turn of this century.

Chinese Medicine began to get noticed in 1928 when Soulie de Morant, the French consul in China, returned home with the Chinese medical texts he had translated into French and persuaded several doctors to examine the practice. Interest grew steadily throughout Europe and America after World War II. The Acupuncture International Association was founded in 1949 by a group of nonconventional physicians in the United States. J. R. Worsley established the Chinese College of Acupuncture in England in 1960.
Unites States interest was slower to grow until the early 1970s, when the United States re-established friendly relations with the Peoples Republic of China. Website : http://www.pure-acupuncture-denver.com Call Us : 303-669-4529

HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK?

Its certainly effective medicinebut HOW does acupuncture work? Chinese Medicine and the practice of acupuncture have a fascinating history that extends 5000 years before the present. Here are some of the key points to consider: Performed advanced human dissection for study

Amassed a wealth of anatomical and physiological knowledge via autopsy.

Identified of all of internal organs Mapped the entire musculoskeletal system

Understood the vascular system and even grasped the concept of immunity.
And keep in mind, many of these achievements occurred 2000 years before the Western worlds understanding of the same concepts!

WHAT DOES ACUPUNCTURE TREAT?

The short answer is that acupuncture can really address almost any disorder that Western Medicine can, but thats a bit of a vague answer.
But lets take a closer look at how Chinese medicine addresses illness In terms of the Chinese medical framework, the focus is primarily on the person, and secondarily on the illness. This perspective is know as Root & Branch Theory, branch being the manifesting symptoms of the disease and root being the basic cause of the disease itself. This is very different from the Western allopathic model of medicine, where the symptoms are the focus of diagnosis and treatment, and the whole person is considered last, if at all.

WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO)ACKNOWLEDGES ACUPUNCTURE AS EFFECTIVE MEDICINE

The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes the importance of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture for treatment of the following disorders. These diseases are by no means a comprehensive list of what Acupuncture is capable of treating, but rather a small window into the true possibility of what this medicine can really do. WHO List of Recognized Diseases Treatable with Acupuncture: Allergies Arthritis (osteo) Asthma Backache Bronchitis Bursitis Cataract Cardiovascular Problems Fibroids Headache Hearing loss Hemorrhoids Hiccups Hypertension Hypoglycemia Insomnia Irritability Obesity Psoriasis Sciatica Sinusitis

DOES ACUPUNCTURE HURT?

One of the most common misconceptions regarding acupuncture needles is that they are going to hurt. Let me put your mind at ease The instruments that I use are very fine, filliform and stainless steel. They are sterile packaged and then discarded after a single use. They are very different from the scary hypodermics that you may be accustomed to when receiving a shot from the nurse in a Western hospital. Whereas ours are small and solid, hypodermics are large and hollow. In fact, 10 needles can fit into the hollow opening of a single hypodermic! Because of their small size and advanced design, they are virtually painless upon insertion. So no need to worry.

ACUPUNCTURE NEEDLES
Needling therapy, otherwise known as acupuncture, is the insertion of small, solid needles into body tissue in order to produce a response. The overall response goal of this type of therapy is always to restore balance. How is balance restored, you might ask? Most treatments will focus on reducing pain, promoting proper blood flow, equalizing immune function, and balancing organ function. Acupuncture is more than just sticking small stainless steel rods in the body, of course. As your practitioner, I must consider which points are going to work best for your condition.

ACUPUNCTURE SIDE EFFECTS

Generally, no. Acupuncture is a very safe method of encouraging the body to promote natural healing and improve function through homeostatic balance (internal balance). Done properly, acupuncture rarely causes any serious side effect. Normally, you will feel very little upon the insertion of the needle. After the needle is inserted, you may feel a dull achy sensation or pressure, which is entirely normal and actually desired! A common acupuncture side effect during treatment is sleepines and you may fall asleep on the table. This is a normal reaction and is usually an indicator that your body is in need of some serious down-time. In our world of super productivity, you may feel driven to push your body beyond its normal limits in order to get things done. You may not realize just how run down you are until you are given permission to truly relax, as is indicated during an acupuncture session. Occasionally, you may get dizzy, experience nausea, or even a general euphoria during a session. Website : http://www.pure-acupuncture-denver.com Call Us : 303-669-4529

NAET ALLERGY ELIMINATION TECHNIQUE

An allergy is any adverse reaction to something that may not cause sensitivity to most other people. In the Western world, an allergy is caused by an overacting immune system. From a holistic approach, NAET views an allergy as the brains perceived notion of a substance as a threat to the bodys wellbeing. Our brain is a hugely complex computer that conducts countless operations every second through its electrical system, otherwise known as our Nervous System. Our nervous system transmits information along nerve pathways via chemical messengers that create an electric circuit throughout the body. This electric circuit causes every cell in our body to emit an electromagnetic field that emanates outward. In fact, all living creatures on earth emit an electromagnetic field.

HERBAL MEDICINE
Herbal Medicine is often not on my patients minds when they come in for Chinese Medical treatment. They are generally thinking about receiving acupuncture. Acupuncture, however, is often only a single facet of your treatment regimen. Equally important is the component of Chinese herbal medicine. Herbal medicine is our internal medicine component. Herbs are used to treat disease and disorders by ingestion of specific substances. Herbs are also one of the oldest (and most popular and widely used) forms of health care. So please be open to the idea of Chinese herbs as part of your treatmentthey are extremely powerful and can really enhance the results you will get.

GUA SHA

Gua sha is a manual treatment applied to the muscles and tendons using a small tool. The purpose is to promote blood circulation and remove stagnation, thus restoring normal flow and function to the area being treated, and reducing any inflammation that may be present. It is especially useful for stiff neck and shoulders, and tight, tender backs. As with cupping, it is also useful in treating colds and flus as well.

FOOD THERAPY

Chinese food therapy began with the first development of farming techniques. They began to understand that food could be used to protect from and fight against disease, and subsequently they developed a system of food flavor and organ system associations. The Chinese concluded that there were 5 Flavors of food. Each flavor influences a specific organ to produce a physiological response relative to that organ. The 5 Flavors & Their Corresponding Organs and Tissues:
sweet>spleen>flesh

sour>liver>muscles and tendons

bitter>heart>blood salty>kidney>bones

pungent>lungs>skin
