General Structure
Structure 2 semesters for coursework (3.5 months each) to attend core and elective courses, plus skills modules 1 semester for the Masters Work Project Core Courses (30 ECTS) 1st Sem. 2nd Sem. 3rd Sem. Skills Modules and Language Course (2ECTS) Electives (28 ECTS) Work Project (42 ECTS) Analytical Background: A reasonable analytical background is needed to succeed in any of the Nova Masters. The MSc in Management is open to students with basic levels in Quantitative Methods, while the MSc in Economics and in Finance require more prior preparation in this area. A Beginner Profile has been designed for students with limited quantitative skills and no background in these areas. Our Pre-Experience Programs are full time and, thus, not suitable for working students. Moreover, this type of program is prepared for students without extensive work experience.

Language The Nova Masters are taught entirely in English, including exams, class-work, support materials and the Work Projects. By graduation, students should be fluent in two languages (including mother

tongue) and functional in a third. For students who do not have the second foreign language certification, Nova SBE will be offering courses in Spanish and Portuguese (0.5 ECTS).

Students are expected to complete their program in 3 semesters (i.e. 1.5 years). Hence, for students entering in the Fall (September 2013), the expected graduation date is January 2015.

Skills Modules These modules provide students with opportunities for professional development. Students are required to complete 3 modules, each lasting up to one week. Nova offers its students the opportunity to complete the modules within 3 areas: International Exposure These modules provide students with international experience, helping them to build knowledge about the international business environment

and international careers. These modules include several study trips abroad, in addition to modules on campus. Business Skills Leadership and Creativity modules challenge students to think out-ofthe-box and to use these skills to lead their organizations in a future dominated by innovation. Social Responsibility modules are meant to challenge students to consider

their role as professionals and citizens of a global world and to help them discover the balance between personal, professional and public fulfillment. Career Vision Practical modules that enable students to establish and develop a plan for their career and develop the soft skills to pursue it: the very first step towards professional success.

Work Project Students must complete a Masters Work Project, which is the equivalent to a Masters Thesis. The Work Project can be developed in different ways: Directed Research An original piece of work on a theme proposed and individually supervised by a professor. It can also take the form of a case study.

Field Labs An innovative learning process focused on a high-impact, real-life problem. Students undertake specific projects that replicate real-life working environments in a controlled setting and with the support of an experienced instructor.

Directed Internship An internship where students develop a project for a company with a problem-solving format. They will respond to a predefined question / problem raised by the host organization, under the supervision of a Nova faculty member.
