In a short paragraph, please briefly elaborate on one of your extracurricular activities or work experiences. Throughout my high school life I have done many things in 4my community of Cottage Grove, Oregon involving music. But the one that has stuck with me the most is the 2013 Metropolitan Rhythm and Blues Revue. This is an annual show at the local theater that the high schools music and dance standents collaborate with the communitys musically talented adults to put on a four-day community show. I had worked in two previous Revues as a freshman and a sophomore, but for those I was only part of the backstage crew (spotlight operator to be exact). This year I was in the jazz band and got to experience what it takes to put on a show from the set up to the nightly rehersals to the five public shows themselves to the tear down, it gave me a taste of what it would take to have a career in the music/performing arts industry.

Describe your academic interests and how you plan to pursue them at USC. Please feel free to address your firstand second-choice major selections. USC is to me a great opportunity to work with well known, well cretided people in order to accomplish my goal of getting a college degree.

There are thousands of colleges and universities. Why are you applying to Occidental? In your opinion, what distinguishes it from your other choices? I am applying to Occidental because it combines a fine arts program with a small, intricate, environment, and is in the desirable city of Los Angeles.
