Our Historical Establishment 1976: Minister of Education and Culture set up a team called TKPK (Communication Technology for Education and Culture) based in Jakarta, Semarang, Yogyakarta and Surabaya.

1978: TKPK team was then formally established by Presidential Decree No.27/1978 as Communication Technology Center for Education and Culture, abbreviated as TKPK Center, which is now well-known as Pustekkom.

Since 2000, Pustekkom has been expanding its governmental services with information technology. Therefore, the abbreviation also expands with information technology but the acronym remains the same as Pustekkom (Information and Communication Technology Center for Education).

Pustekkom has three (3) direct units called Media Development Center in Semarang, Yogyakarta dan Surabaya as well as numerous regional technical units in 23 provinces in Indonesia

 In 2005, Ministerial Decree No.23/2005 about Organization and Governance within Ministry of Education and Culture was issued. Under this regulation, Pustekkom is officially under the wing of Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Our Main Duties and Function Duties Implement, coordinate and develop activities in the field of information and communication technology for education. Function Formulate technical policy in the field of educational technology development and foster the utilization of Information and Communication Technology for distance learning Develop systems and learning models through the utilization of Information and Communication Technology for distance learning Develop programs for all media channels, types, and levels of education Provide educational technology related consulting services Penetrating accessibility for educational network and resources Supporting capacity building for teachers and educational staff in implementing and utilizing ICT for education
