Synopsis
One Square Mile is a gritty, contemporary and poignant multilayered drama all set within one area of South West London. Located in the present day, it follows a series of misplaced characters from a wide range of backgrounds as their lives cross paths. Kingsley is a small time council-estate drug dealer who missed out on a childhood and lived the all too familiar robbing hood. But after striking up an unlikely friend ship with ex-thespian Clarence, during Community Payback in the cemetery, he realises he has bigger dreams. Unfortunately, due to business commitments and jealousy amongst his peers, it means leaving his current life comeswith its own risks. Jahmal is a rich playboy for whom money means nothing. However, he gets far more than he bargained for when abeautiful model re-enters his life. A shocking decision under pressure sends him on the run and his familys wealth simply isnt enough to save him from the looming darker forces. George is a cab driver with hopes of becoming a father one day, until his life is torn apart through no fault ofhisown. But with the love and support of his wife he finally faces the world again and finds redemption to fulfil his dreams. Emily is a wife and a mother who feels miscast in a role she just cant seem to get to grips with. It doesnt helpthat her estranged husband Max is on the brink and how much pain can one man suffer before he cracks? But to save him she first needs to find herself again and get her life back, which has slowly been slipping away. All of these interconnecting stories, proving that one can often be loneliest within a crowd. As tension mounts, relationships are strained, loyalties are tested and violence erupts. However the under lyingmessage of the film is one of hope and that by working as a community things can only get better. Inspired by Crash and Amores Perros and based on real events, One Square Mile is a moving and gripping portrayal of modern City life, which should resonate with everyone.
