PRECAUTIONS
1. As the universal ioint is a non-disassembly type' the propeller shaft or intermediate shaft must be replaced as an assembly in the event of universalioint trouble. Be careful not to grip the propeller shaft tube too tightly in the vise as this will cause deformation.

INSPECT CENTER SUPPORT BEARINGFORWEAR OR DAMAGE Checkthat the bearingturns freely. lf the bearingis damaged,worn, or does not turn freely, replace it.

1. INSTALLCENTER SUPPORT BEARING ON INTERMEDIATE SHAFT lnstall the center support bearingwith the cutout on the rear side.

INSTALL FTANGEYOKE ON INTERMEDIATE SHAFT grease to the splinesof the intermediate ta) Apply MP shaft. (b) Align the matchmarkson the yoke and shaft and installthem.
(c) Using SST to hold the flange, tighten down a nut to pressthe bearinginto position.

INSPECTION OF BALL JOINTS
1. INSPECT BALL JOINTS FOREXCESSIVE LOOSENESS (d Jack up the tront of the vehicleand place a wooden blockwith a heightof 18O - 2OOmm (7.09 - 7.87 in.) underone front tire. (d Lower the jack until there is about half a load on the front coil springs.Placestandsunderthe vehiclefor safety. (c) Make sure the front wheels are in a straightforward position and block them with chocks.
