One reason is tourism: Florida is one of the most popular tourist destinations for Americans, as well as being an incredibly popular tourist spot for foreigners. Obviously, tourism is good for the state in many ways, boosting its economy with the millions of dollars tourists spend annually, and creating and sustaining jobs in businesses and industries related to it. But tourism also puts many, many drivers on Florida's highways and roads. Unfortunately, many of these drivers do not know where they are going, drive erratically, read maps while they drive, make sudden stops and turns, or may be prone to drink and drive since they are on vacation or spring break. So what should you do when you have a car accident? The following are some recommended steps to take: 1. Insist that the police are called and a report is filed with the local and state police 2. Document as much as you can about the car/motorcycle, the accident, and any injuries; even conversations you had with the other driver/biker and police are important to document 3. Talk with no one about the accident other than your attorney and your doctor if you have one; do NOT discuss the accident or post any pictures of yourself on any form of social media 4. Seek medical attention immediately and have all treatment and testing appropriately documented 5. Take photos of the car/motorcycle, the accident scene, and your injuries, if possible 6. Get contact information for anyone who witnessed the accident; try to determine if there are any traffic cameras or other security cameras in the area that may have caught the accident on tape 7.
