MEF?
The Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) is the defining body for Carrier Ethernet. It is a global industry

alliance responsible for the acceleration of the worldwide adoption of

Carrier Ethernet services and networks.

The MEF develops Carrier Ethernet specifications to promote interoperability and to promote the

worldwide deployment of Carrier Ethernet.

1. What is the biggest real-world operational concern for service provider delivering E-LAN (VPLS)
today?
A. MAC-Address learning volume or rates
B. Scaling number of end-points
C. Layer 2 Loop Protection
D. Multi-homing of CE's

2. Since SOAM are used for fault management and performance management of interfaces and
EVC/OVCs, they must traverse the same path as the service frames that are associated with that
EVC/OVC. Chose the statement that is correct:
A. This means that service frames and SOAM will have the same EVC headers as the service
frames.
B. This means that service frames and SOAM will have the different headers than that of the
service frames.
C. This means that SOAM frames do not need headers as long as they are within a MEG.

3. When CCMs are sent for a given ME, this ME can have the following Connectivity Status values:
A. Active and/or Not active
B. Not active
C. Not active and/or Partially active
D. Active, not active and/or Partially active

4. A Multipoint-to-Multipoint MEG can have the following Connectivity Status values:

A. Active and/or Not active
B. Not active
C. Active, not active and/or Partially active

5. Which kind of UNI to UNI connectivity is used for the Ethernet Private Line (EPL) service?
A. Ethernet Private Circuit
B. Point to Point Ethernet Private Connection
C. Point to Point Ethernet Virtual Connection

6. Which three Service Types are defined in MEF 6.1? (Select three.):
A. Ethernet Circuit (E-Circuit)
B. Ethernet Line (E-Line)
C. Ethernet Tree (E-Tree)
D. Ethernet Transparent Connection (E-TC)
E. Ethernet LAN (E-LAN)
7. An enterprise has a hub and three branch locations. Each branch is connected to the hub. Each
branch has a single router with an Ethernet interface unable to support virtual LANs (VLANs),
and the one at hub location supports VLANs. Which service arrangement meets the needs of the
enterprise?
A. one instance of Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) between each branch and the hub
B. one instance of Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) between each branch and the hub with
Customer Edge VLAN Identifier (CEVLAN ID) preservation = Yes
C. one instance of Ethernet Private Line (EPL) between each branch and the hub
D. two instances of Ethernet Private Tree (EPTree) with the hub UNI designated as a Root
8. An enterprise with three locations requests Ethernet service for complete transparent connectivity
between sites. Which service is most suitable?

A. a single Ethernet Private LAN (EP-LAN)

B. a single Ethernet Virtual Private LAN (EVP-LAN)
C. a single Ethernet Private Tree (EP-Tree)
D. a single Ethernet Virtual Private Tree (EVP-Tree)

9. For Service Provider MEF Certification, which prerequisite must the Service Provider's equipment
fulfil?
A. The equipment operating at the UNI must be MEF certified.
B. The equipment operating at any UNI and ENNI must be MEF certified.
C. All equipment used to service the tested EVCs must be MEF certified.
D. The testing

10. Which kind of UNI to UNI connectivity is used for the Ethernet Private Line (EPL) service?

A. Ethernet Private Circuit

B. Point to Point Ethernet Private Connection
C. Point to Point Ethernet Virtual Connection
D. Point to Point Ethernet Virtual Circuit

11. The efficiency of Ethernet

A. Increases with frame size.
B. Is independent of propagation delay.
C. Can be raised by having feedback.
D. Gets reduced when UDP flows dominate in the network.

12. A world-wide layer 2 network is not feasible with no layer 3 because

A. The bandwidth of the links is too small

B. Layer 2 switches don't have enough memory for data packets
C. The headers are too long
D. The flat address space leads to unmanageable forwarding tables

13. ABC Enterprises wants to extend Ethernet connectivity between their 5 branch offices to its two
accounting centres (AC). Two accounting centres each have a single UNI with an EPL between
them for data mirroring (disaster recovery). The branches can’t be allowed to see each others
sensitive accounting data. Which service meets ABC’s requirement?

A. 1 EVPLAN service between the AC and the branches with mac learning
B. 1 EPL service between the AC and the branches
C. 1 EVP-Tree services between the AC and the branches with the ACs designated as root
D. 1 EVP-Tree service between the AC and the branches, with the branches designated as the
root.

14. ABC Enterprise needs to connect 2 services to its 2 branch locations and the Central office where
there is a firewall that needs to be connected to their ISP for Internet access. The Enterprise is
inflexible about only using one port on its Server for the service. Which service meets all of the
requirements?

A. 1 EP-LAN service between Central office and the branches and an EP-LINE between the
Central office firewall and the ISP
B. 1 EVP-LAN service between Central office and the branches and an EVPL service between
the Central office firewall to the ISP
C. 1 EVP-LAN service between the Central office and the branches
D. 2 E-Tree services between the Central office and the branches with the Central office
designated as root.
A. parameters
