INITIAL PAYMENT OF FEES: DUE BY 7 FEBRUARY 2014


This schedule DOES NOT APPLY TO STUDENTS PAYING INTERNATIONAL FEES
International fee paying students should consult the 2014 Student Fees Handbook, URL: http://www.uct.ac.za/apply/fees/ the International Academic Programmes Office or Graduate School of Business for information on international fees.

Each student who intends registering for the 2014 academic year must make an initial payment according to the following schedule and pay the outstanding balance by 30 June 2014. It is the responsibility of the student to pay this by due date. The University does not remind students that this payment is due. Payment should be made on this advice, as we do not issue detailed statements of account prior to registration.

A.

TUITION FEES:
1. Each student must make an initial payment as follows, by 7 February 2014, subject to a one-off late payment fee of 10% of the amount unpaid. If a student/parent is unsure of the amount to be paid, for example when the student intends registering for a single course only, it is his/her responsibility to consult the 2014 Student Fees Booklet, which is available on the UCT website at URL: http://www.uct.ac.za/apply/fees/ or contact the Fees Office prior to the payment date to determine the amount due. RESIDENCE FEES:
1. The initial payment towards residence fees is: Catering residence .......................................................... 21 000 Self-catering residence .................................................... 14 500

This means that a student in a catering residence must make an initial payment of R40 200 (R19 200 tuition + R21 000 residence); a student in a self-catering residence must make an initial payment of R33 700 (R19 200 + R14 500). SADC students must add the R3,000 Administrative Fee to these figures refer A..1.(f) above. 2. Should these amounts not be paid by due date (7 February 2014) a one-off late payment fee of 10% of the unpaid amount will be levied. Students receiving a late offer of a place in UCT residence need to pay the initial residence fee on acceptance of the offer. Returning students must pay any outstanding fees by 8 January 2014 or their offer of a place in residence will be withdrawn. Any payment made will go towards settling an old debt first.

PAYMENT OF THE BALANCE OF FEES IS DUE BY 30 JUNE 2014 AND WILL BE RENDERED IN TERMS OF A DETAILED STATEMENT OF ACCOUNT. THE UNIVERSITY RENDERS STATEMENTS OF ACCOUNT EVERY MONTH FROM MARCH ONWARDS.

METHODS OF PAYMENT:
1. 2. 3. Direct deposit / internet transfer into the UCT bank account at Standard Bank Rondebosch, Branch code 025009, Account No: 270689982. Swift address (for payments from outside South Africa) SBZA ZAJJ. Quote student number as reference. Debit card payments can only be made via the Cashiers Office by the card-holder. Credit card payments can be made at the Cashiers Office by the card-holder; on-line directly to the student fee account via the UCT website URL:http:/payonline.uct.ac.za or by completing the Credit Card form and faxing it to the Cashiers Office: +27 21 650 5093. Forms can be obtained from the Cashiers or Fees Office, the back of the Student Fees Handbook or from the Fees website. Cheque; either bring your cheque and this statement to the Cashiers Office at Level 3, Kramer Law Building, Middle Campus, or post them to the UCT Cashiers Office. The student number must be written on the back of the cheque. Cash payments to a maximum of ZAR1,500 will be accepted by the UCT Cashier.

1. 2. 3. 4. Receipt of this advice does not imply acceptance for admission to this University. Please ignore this fee request if you do not intend to register at this University. Students who have not settled their outstanding fees by 8 January 2014 will not be eligible for re-registration and will have any place in student accommodation cancelled on 17 January 2014. The payment schedule overleaf does not apply to those students outside South Africa and the other SADC countries who are classified as international students and charged international fees by the UCT International Academic Programmes Office or Graduate School of Business. Any student who has been made a firm offer of an external bursary or scholarship must provide the Fees Office with written evidence from his/her sponsors and may deduct one half of the annual award from the initial payment of fees due. Awards which have not been confirmed by the due date for payment of fees may not be used to reduce the initial payment due. Such awards when confirmed will be credited towards fees due by 30 June 2014. Students who gamble on receiving an unconfirmed bursary, which subsequently does not materialize, will not have an adjustment made to the 10% penalty fee raised on short payment of the initial fees or to interest charged. Students who have been offered UCT financial assistance are required to pay the family contribution as advised in the letter from the UCT Student Financial Aid Office. No receipt will be issued except for cash payments. Where payment is made for students from outside the Rand currency area, payment must be made by Telegraphic Transfer into the UCT bank account No: 27 068 9982, at Standard Bank, Rondebosch, Branch Code: 025009, Swift Address: SBZA ZAJJ. Quote the student no. as the reference and fax a copy of the transfer form to +27 21 650 4768. Allow at least 14 working days for bank transfers to reach UCTs account. Clearance will only be granted when payment has been received. Returning students must also clear any outstanding fee debt. Students from SADC countries and non-South African students who do not have permanent residence but pay local fees plus an administrative service fee, MUST ensure that the minimum initial fee for tuition, residence and the R3,000 administrative service fee is received by UCT prior to registration or by 7 February 2014, whichever date occurs first.

10. It is the responsibility of the student to use the Student Self Service functionality to maintain his/her address and contact details. 11. Students will not be able to make bookshop purchases on credit and have these costs debited to their fee account. This applies to all students, South African or foreign. Students must therefore bring sufficient cash funds with them to buy books and stationery. 12. Students are required to pay for parking tokens when they are applied for.
