Mr E Boullier Lotus F1 Team Whiteways Technical Centre Enstone Chipping Norton Oxfordshire OX7 4EE Dear Mr Boullier, Re: Application to replace Kimi Raikkonen for the remaining two Grand Prix of the 2013 season.

I am writing to apply to replace Kimi Raikkonen as a Lotus F1 driver for the two remaining races of the 2013 season, following his threat to boycott the rest of the season. I have previously applied to replace Mark Webber at Red Bull (see attached application), but was rejected as the team believed my superior knowledge of Milton Keynes would unsettle Sebastian Vettel. I would like to take this opportunity to assure you that I have absolutely no knowledge of Enstone or Chipping Norton (apart from knowing it is where Jeremy Clarkson lives) and have never been to the area before. I do have SatNav and am available for a seat fitting on the afternoon of Friday 8h November as I have the afternoon off work. I believe I would be a suitable candidate for the following reasons: 1) I am cheap. It is no secret that Lotus F1 Team is experiencing financial difficulties. I would like to offer my services for two weeks for the pro-rata amount of my current salary, which is 1,010.85, plus travel and hotel expenses (I am happy to travel standard class and stay in a three star hotel) and any fines I may incur throughout the two race weekends (I predict that this will be no more than 75,000).

2) Racing pedigree. As well as having been considered by Red Bull for the role of Number Two Driver for the 2014 season, I once found myself on the A40 leaving Oxford, stopped by some traffic lights, when I saw Fernando Alonso in the car next to me. I beat him, fairly convincingly, to the M40. Whilst I accept there is a step up in driving road cars to driving a Formula One car, I believe this can be used to your advantage in that I will be able to hold up other cars, thus aiding Romain Grosjean. I am also good at avoiding collisions. 3) I will not swear over the radio. In my current role working for a Housing Association, I am used to confrontational situations. I have always been able to maintain a professional level of performance and have never sworn in a work place. 4) I will provide all team members with ice creams at both remaining Grand Prix. I am aware that Mr Raikkonen provided all team employees with ice creams at the American Grand Prix in 2012. I promise to provide all team employees with ice creams at both remaining races. I am confident that if given the opportunity I will be able to show you exactly why you should employ me as a permanent driver in the 2014 season. I look forward to hearing from you soon, Yours sincerely,

David Slater
