Autumn Colours
This includes opportunities from South Lanarkshire Councils Environmental Training programme. This month we went along to their Environmental Volunteer network Day, where we had a great day talking to various groups and having a go at activities such as lighting fires, Kelly kettles and environmental art. Lastly, at our recent Village Tour Networking event at Dalserf we talked to locals about a proposal for a new walk at Rosebank and enjoyed a cuppa and cake while chatting about the communitys new growing project. Our last networking events are coming up so come and tell us what you think about your local area, and find out about some new projects that are developing, details over the page. If you missed your local event, just come along to an upcoming one, or contact us, details below.

Our People, Our Land, Our History: Shaping our Future

Autumn has arrived. With the cold weather and nights drawing in, it can be tempting to stay in doors but we have lots of activities to get you outside. Why not go for a walk and enjoy the beautiful autumn colours while they last? This month, a parade of scarecrows made by local families and schools heralded in celebrations for this years fruit harvests at Fruit Day at Overton Farm. The scarecrow competition and days celebrations were funded by CAVLP and HLF. AJ Morris of Lanarkshire Farmers Market said, The market stalls were bustling with people keen to buy local produce and everyone enjoyed the wide range of activities and music on offer for all the family. Our thanks go to all involved, particularly those who created a scarecrow they were truly outstanding in their field! This month, our partner CCI ran a new training opportunity in Green woodwork in New Lanark. The course trains people to work with newly felled trees and participants learnt to use hand tools and started to make small garden benches. CAVLP funds a range of opportunities through different providers to allow locals the opportunity to get what could be costly trainingdont miss out, have a look at our current training opportunities on the next page.
