West Killamarsh 3-0 RLWMFC The Lion army made its way to Mount St Marys School for this

weeks fixture against West Killamarsh. As Sunday league venues go, this is the worst. It takes an eternity to get there, you need a Sherpa to lead you to the pitch, its always cold, its always windy, and we always lose there. Even the showers have gone downhill. Team news After his inspirational performance the week before it was a surprise to everyone that Jord had decided to skip this week in favour of weekend of culture in Amsterdam. With Cowhead also missing and Gav on the bench, in came Lunny, Bepe and Ricky for a starting 4-5-1. Also, because of a mix up with the kit, Lion played in a rather fetching, circa 1999, blue and red number. Paired up with sky blue shorts and maroon socks, its sure to start a craze around the European football circuit sometime soon. If Carlsberg did football kits . . . . Lion, for once, started quite brightly. A reasonable breeze behind them, they were first to much of the play and got into some decent positions. Unfortunately, hardly any clear cut chances were made from these spells of pressure. Plenty of long range shots but rarely able to get in behind the hosts defence. Warnings signs had been coming with Wests looking quite handy on the break. Some neat play around the area had led to a couple of chances. This came to fruition late in the first half on another of these breaks as the hosts took the lead. A cross from the right came into a good area, Bushy was drawn into the middle when he should have been with his man who had held his position well and struck home at the back post. A hammer blow. The gaffer was quite positive in his assessment at half time. Lion had been the better side and didnt deserve to be 1 down. What was to come in the second half though could only be classed as a total capitulation. Wests took command of the middle of the park, passed and moved well, and looked for the ball over the top or into the channels on a regular basis. Lion had no answer, and if truth be told, the end 3-0 score line could have been much worse. The second goal, on around the hour mark, came after the hosts had already hit the bar and missed a guilt edge chance after breaking with a 3 on 2. Lion failed to clear a corner adequately and ball was smashed home into the roof of the net. Another long range shot clipped the top of the bar before a third goal sealed the victory. The latest long ball over the top led to hesitant defending by the calamitous Bush and the West End striker slotted the ball into the bottom corner from no more than 8 yards out. A very disappointing second half performance from Lion, albeit against comfortably the best side we have come up against to date. A positive reaction required in the next game to keep going, what has up to now, been a decent start. Following the game we also got to speak to gaffer Andy Brear who wasnt pleased with some of his players performances: Brear First half we were decent, but you have to play for 90 minutes in this game. I can count on the fingers of one hand . . . . *slight pause and puzzled look* . . . . the players who put in an adequate performance today. Away from football, assistant manager Foggy talked us through some of his current off field activities: Foggy Ive been lucky to make the last couple of games as Im in the middle of designing some of the new Prada sportswear range. After the successful design and sale of the ankle sock which, if you didnt notice, I modelled throughout the first part of the season, were currently designing a new turquoise football boot, much like the ones Ive worn for a good 4 or 5 years now. Im surprised theyve not caught on yet if Im honest, but Prada have been interested in getting into the football market for some time and really liked my ideas. Weve got Kate Moss lined up for the promo shots, so keep your eye out for them.
