promote zero pesticide farming in the country through complete plant nutrition a nd soil conditioning or soil remediation or soil

rejuvination to revive fatigued soil not total eradication of inorganic use not soil fertilization because fertilization means you're just feeding the soil to give the plant the needed nutrients Plant nutrition involves all the living organisms in the soil. the interplay of all these organisms becomes the reason why the soil is not destroyed. soil at right pH and that secondary plant nutrients and trace elements should be present soil humus which stimulates biological activity in the soil balance the microbial activity in the soil in every cropping cycle, soil nutrients are inevitably withdrawn and will be dep leted if not replaced. advocacy: maintain soil nutrients to make farm productive humic acid fertilizer contains considerable amounts of humus and fulmic acid whi ch stimulates the microbial activities in the soil. it magnifies the effect of c ommercial nitrogen by 6 times and neutralizes acid soils. it involves the infusion of microorganisms in order to remove the toxic elements of the soil (microbes and foliar spray)

East West Seed Co. was established in the Philippines in 1982 by Simon Groot, a Dutch agriculturist who saw the need for seeds that were adapted to local condit ions in Asia. At the time, the vegetable seed industry in Southeast Asia was little more than a seed trading system. No one was doing vegetable plant breeding, which involves years of trials, selection, crossing and investment. Simon Groot saw the opport unity for locally-developed hybrid seeds, and all the remarkable characteristics they were known for, like higher yields, better disease tolerance, better shelf life and extended growing seasons. Together with Glenn Goldsmith from California and tropical agronomist Gerard Gru bben from the Netherlands, he founded East West Seed companies in the Philippine s and Thailand, and later on, Indonesia and Vietnam. Today, East West Seed Co. d istributes seeds in 53 countries worldwide. From Africa to Asia, Australia to Am erica, East West Seed Co. continues to bring farmers better seeds for better yie lds. The vegetable derby was the highlight of the recent Vegetable Congress that was participated in by major vegetable seed producers in the country. All leading ve getable seed companies in the country planted and showcased their best seed vari eties for visitors to see and to judge for themselves which varieties excel unde r the growing conditions in the Pacman Farm. We shall continually improve the development, production, marketing and distribu tion of vegetable seeds and related products and services for consistent quality that satisfies our customers. The challenges for the future are substantial: globalization, changing weather p

atterns, import liberalization, to name just a few are all requiring farmers to be better inform ed and to be open to change. East-West Seed has companies in most countries in Asia. We need to use our inter national knowledge and experience to predict the farmer s needs and the consumer s preference in the ye ars to come. That s our obligation. The new building houses laboratory facilities for plant pathology, tissue cultur e, and seed technology research. It also boasts a seed storage area, including pre-drying rooms and long-term storage facility at 20Celsius that can store good quality seeds for many years. 10 hectares of land which they devote solely for product development. This includes green houses for seedling production and hectares of cultivated land which is mainly used as testing ground for the development and selection of superior new breeding lines and new hybrid varieties. Morever, the inoculation of EMs in the soil balances the population of good and bad microorganisms. What is more interesting is that once these good microorganisms outnumber the population of bad microorganisms, a significant decrease in the occurrence of diseases caused by pathogens happens. The study showed that rice areas are becoming multi-nutrient-deficient. Unless a meliorated, yield from these rice areas will remain dismally low In farmer s fields, however, rice plants still show nutrient deficiency symptoms despite fertilizer application because other limiting factors are not properly diagnosed. It is therefore important to use a reliable method to determine the fertility status of the soil and increase fertilizer use efficiency.

The project will contribute in increasing income of onion farmers, attaining p rice stability in the onion industry, improving the handling of onion and other agricultural commodities, establish an innovative credit fund to improve the de livery of credit assistance services for agricultural development, and more imp ortant will establish a viable integrated business structure for onion and cold storage plant operations that can be operated on a national scale. At this juncture in the development of the onion industry of the Philippines, em bracing new development paradigms is not only necessary, but it is a must. The introduction of a more noble approach to production under an organized productio n arrangement with better technology transfer and credit support services will l ead to better production. The strategic placement of cold storage facilities whe re farmers and small time traders have significant control will ensure fair comp etition, equitable share of profits, and price stability.
