ELECTRONIC TRANSCRIPTS Electronictranscriptsshowingcoursesandgradesfromallpostsecondaryschoolsattended.All transcriptsorotherrecordsofacademicwork(e.g.,marksheets,RelevedeNotes)mustbe submittedelectronically.Ifyouruniversitydoesnotofferelectronictranscripts,pleaseuploada scannedcopyofyourtranscriptoracademicrecord.Donotsendofficialpaper transcripts.Acceptedapplicantswhohavesubmittedascannedcopyoftheirtranscriptwillbe requiredtosendinofficialpaperdocumentsforverificationbeforetheofferisconsideredofficial. PleasedonotsendofficialtranscriptsbeforebeingnotifiedbyGSAS. 2. A STATEMENT OF PURPOSE (NOT TO EXCEED 1,000 WORDS) 3. A CV. 4. A WRITING SAMPLE. Thewritingsampleshouldbeapproximately1020pagesinlength.Itcanbeaselfcontainedpaper, anexcerptfromalongerpiece,oracompilationofshorteressays.Thesampledoesnothavetobea historypaper,butitshouldshowcaseyourverbalandanalyticalabilities. 5. TWO LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION. Academicreferencesarepreferred,however,applicantswhohavenotbeenenrolledinanacademic programforsometimemaysubmitlettersfromsupervisorsorcolleaguesinpositionsof responsibility.Whileapplicantsarefreetosubmitthereferencesthattheybelievebestsupporttheir applications,atleastonereferencefromaninstructorfamiliarwithhis/herworkisrecommended. Applicantsarepermittedtosubmitathirdletterofrecommendationaswell,butshouldkeepinmind thatadditionalrecommendationsarenotnecessarilypositiveadditionstoapplications. 6. THE TOEFL TheTOEFLisrequiredforallinternationalstudentswhosenativelanguageisnotEnglishandwhose undergraduatedegreeisfromaninstitutionwhoselanguageofinstructionisnotEnglish.(Minimum TOEFLscoresacceptedare100ontheiBTInternetbasedtestand600forthePBTpaperbased test.)IELTSscoresarealsoacceptabletofillthisrequirement(minimum7.5).TheGSASinstitution codeis2162. 7. GRE GENERAL EXAM (OPTIONAL) TheGREtestisnotrequiredforadmissiontothedualmastersdegreeprograminInternationaland WorldHistory.IfyoudotaketheGREandwishtoincludethetestscores,useInstitutionCode2162.
