Mayor Alexandrya addresses profiteering concerns in a Q&A

Profiteering versus Manipulation? Profiteering is when a person buys 1 or more goods, and resells them at a higher profit in the same town. Manipulation is defined in the Sussex Codex as when a person buys ALL the goods in a town, and either holds onto them, or resells all of them at an extremely inflated price. This generally causes issue in a market. Honestly, to me there isn't that much of a difference in the end. Do you believe a law should be in place. Why or why not? The Town Council has decided that the Market Manipulation law in the Sussex Codex will suffice for right now and in January based upon results we will readdress the issue on profiteering, IF it does become an issue in our marketplace. Currently though, most of what I'm seeing is a high traffic of trade from those outside of Lewes, and outside of England as a general. It's a double edged sword. There are people who only want to help the town prosper, and I love them for it as they go above and beyond to help. I advise that they sell directly to the TH or set up an arrangement elsewhere i.e. wheat farmers working with millers, who work with bakers, to help produce bread cheap. Your morale will only be damaged if you permit it to, or look at it in a negative light. Those who want to sell for higher prices on the market have the right to do so. However, the taverns in Lewes sells cheap food items--So no, don't buy that 6p bread if you don't want to, step into a tavern to eat your meal for only 5p instead. Any final words or message you would like to share with our citizens regarding this issue? Contact me to help the town! You will know your goods will be used to better help Lewes. Bread and Corn is used in the tavern, unless the County is in dire need to feed Levan and we have extra. Bakers get first dibs to wood and flour, then after for the other craftsmen. If you need resources, mail me and if available I will send them to you. To have your voice heard, discuss this issue in Sussex Inn: Of Markets and Trading Laws.

What are your concerns about profiteering? How will it affect our citizens? Right now there hasn't been too much concern. However lately, prices seem to have increased steadily on the market. This should not be confused with profiteering. Before, where there was a large amount of cheaper goods on the market, these expensive goods were still up on the market--it was just not seen as much. These days, visitors pass through buying up goods for trade or stocking up on food for their travels. This business of trade not only helps our town, but our County also. There is the notion that profiteering damages citizen morale to help the town with cheap goods. Do you agree with this, why or why not?

James de Grey is just a sweet transvestite!

The pride and joy of his noble family de Grey, James strut his stuff in a tight corset, knicker and stocking set with hot black heels to boot. The way his manly legs bulged as he walked, and that tight firm tush of his surely swayed the judges to crown him the Most Amusing Costume for the Costume Contest. Miss Airy was also awarded 20p for Cutest/Original costume with her clucky bird outfit. Mr. Harmin frightened the whole crowd in a beastly outfit to win for the Creepiest. De Grey cousins Qtchi and Hunter Bucks came out on top of a tiebreker to win Best Couple as a pair of Arias pumpkins. Aria has not commented, instead choosing to dress as glaring Medusa. James was able to beat out all the competition to win Best Overall! Congratulations to him and also for his recent engagement to Lady Guinevere.
