Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur Invites Application for Two-year Master Programme in Human Resource Management (MHRM)

The Course
The impact of economic reforms in the 90s on Indian market has been unprecedented. It has brought an opportunity of global competition where effective and sustainable performance of the corporate has become a key to organisational success. In such a scenario, human resource (HR) offers competitive advantage to meet the demands of contemporary business. HR functions demand multi-fold skills to achieve key performance. The role of HR professionals needs a shift from technical to tactical and legitimate to strategic. The band of HR managers must understand and know how to add value to business. In this backdrop, the programme focuses on the development of knowledge, skills, and attitudes to enable the students to meet the requirements of the modern organisation as HR professionals.

Objectives
The objective of this programme is to train human resources to: (a) meet the demands of the industry, (b) make HR professionals understand business dynamics, (c) prepare HR professionals to take up strategic roles, and (d) inculcate business ethics in HR professionals.

The admission and tuition fee per semester is Rs 50,000/-(Rupees fifty thousand only) excluding hostel, mess, and establishment charges. Prospective employers: Manufacturing and Service sector including Public sector, IT, and NGOs. Programme details: It is a four-semester course. The first semester will expose students to the basics of business management. The second and third semesters will cover the HR-related core subjects. The dissertation work will start during the summer vacation at the end of the second semester. The fourth semester will focus on specific and specialized HR issues.

How to apply?
After qualifying in the JMET 2011, the candidates seeking admission to the MHRM programme in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences must complete the following procedure:

Step 1: The application form can also be downloaded from the Institute website: http://www.iitkgp.ac.in/ OR
http://www.hss.iitkgp.ernet.in/

Step 2: Obtain a demand draft for Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 500/- for SC/ST/PH candidates) made in favour of IIT Kharagpur payable at Kharagpur. Fill in the details of this draft in the application form as specified.

Step 3: Send the application form, duly filled in and signed, along with the requisite demand draft to:
