Building the experience of citizens into public health evidence

10:15 to 16:30 Thursday 16th January 2014 Rose Bowl, Leeds Metropolitan University, LS2 3HB
A conference for public health commissioners, CCGs, councillors, academics, citizens and organisations engaged in promoting health to debate what counts as evidence, what sort of evidence different partners want, and what we need to do to gain greater recognition for voice evidence. What evidence do local authorities, health and wellbeing boards, clinical commissioning groups, other statutory bodies and voluntary and community organisations need? How can the experience of citizens be included? What are the challenges of doing this? What does this mean for public health practitioners and academics? Do we need a new model of evidence that puts the experience of citizens at its heart? Mike Kelly, Director of the Centre for Public Health Excellence, NICE Alyson McGregor, Director of Altogether Better Antony Morgan, Associate Director of the Centre for Public Health Excellence, NICE Liam Hughes, Chair of Oldham Health and Wellbeing Board David Hunter, Professor of Health Policy and Management, Durham University Jane South, Professor of Healthy Communities, Leeds Metropolitan University Mike Grady, Marmot Review Team, UCL Institute of Health Equity Chris Bentley, Public Health Consultant Hanif Malik, Chief Executive of the Hamara Centre, Leeds Gemma Phillips and Mark Petticrew, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Alison Hill, Public Health England Olivia Butterworth and Dr Pritti Mehta, NHS England
