Elementary

Social Studies
1.Bens Guide to US Government- An interactive site for use,
primarily, for Smartboards. In particular, the Place the States game is a super way for students to master locations of the states.

2.National Geographic-Lewis and Clark This site allows students to


get a virtual tour of what it was like to be with Lewis and Clark as they ventured west. Very interactive, student friendly. Reminds me of Oregon Trail in its design, only much more modern.

3.Qwiki-This site is fabulous for providing videos and pictures for many geographical landforms, etc Fantastic for use as you introduce new types of landforms or for ELL support, as the content is read out loud.

Science
4.ScienceBob-This is a neat site with many resources for
teachers and students. Includes tips and ideas for science fairs, experiments, research, and even videos for classroom works.

5. Kids Astronomy- Everything kids want to know about deep space, space travel, the planets and other
celestial bodies. There are also pertinent news articles, teacher resources and games to play. On the far right, there are also links to other content areas. Very user-friendly and inviting.

Math6. National Library of Virtual Manipulatives- A great location for manipulatives for your math classroom. A
wide variety of options for nearly every math lesson imaginable. Easy to use on your Smartboard or individually for differentiation.

7. AAAMath- This site has many, many links for each grade level. After selecting
the concept at the right, you will again be prompted to make a more detailed selection of what you are working on. Each topic has a short review lesson, practice section, and game area to keep students engaged.

8. CoolMath4Kids-Great games and


concepts for math. Includes basic concepts and more advanced concepts, games, and flashcards. There are so many interesting games and puzzle-type activities for students on here. Also an excellent site for differentiation.

Language Arts
9. Interactive Reading Comprehension Resources-This is a fantastic site for fostering reading
comprehension by through small reading strategies focusing efforts on each individual strategy readings. Also includes test prep items and to help build life-long readers.

10. Grammar Ninja- This site helps students work with and
identify parts of speech. There are three differentiated levels (explained in the how to play section). This is an engaging, interactive game that uses real-life sentences to get students to identify sentence parts in a fun way.

11. Diary of a Wimpy Kid- A fun site for those interested in the books
by Jeff Kinney. With fun games like The Cheese Touch and Wimp Yourself, kids can enter the cartoon world created by the author in an exciting way that helps them to connect with literature. There are also write-ups about the books and the author for in-class use.

12.English Zone-This is a phenomenal site for language arts and basic skills.
Even though this is a paid site ($30-year), there are many, many free resources on here that are marked with 3D glasses (paid sites are marked with a key). Very well organized and kid-friendly. Nice balance of practice and quizzes available for free.

13. Scholastic Story Starters-This is a very user-friendly site for


students with writers block or for whole class creative writing assignments. Gives great options for story ideas in a slot machine format. You can click spin to change all columns, or hit buttons in front of columns that you want to change individually. Puts entire concept together at the top in sentence format for student ease.

Digital Citizenship for Students


14. PBS Kids Webonauts- A site for teaching responsible digital
citizenship for students. A great introduction to internet safety and responsibility in a game format that is easy to understand.

15. Carnegie Cyber Academy- A site with many resources for


teaching responsible searching, anti-bully strategies, and training missions to teach students about such things as SPAM. Very colorful, kid-friendly, and has myriad resources to fit the elementary classroom.
