Diabetes Eduction Series Offered

Clarene Hansen, NP, CDE, has been teaching the classes for eight years. We want to provide a high quality comprehensive diabetes education opportunity for our patients, empowering them to live well with diabetes, says Hansen. M. Soubhi Nizam, MD, Endocrinologist in American Fork and most recently in Provo, M. Soubhi Nizam, MD offers Type 1 diabetic patients the latest technology in insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring. He said most Diabetic patients he sees run into two pitfalls: they dont follow their diet, and they lack motivation. When I see a patient, the rst thing I do is get them motivated! Thats when we see improvements, says Dr. Nizam . He helps patients establish a plan tailored specically for their success. The plan is printed for the patient to follow, and then Dr. Nizam refers them to the Diabetes Education classes to help increase their chances of success. If you or a patient want to sign up for the Diabetes Education class call Brandy Owen, Endocrinology, at 801.429.8095. Our Focus On Quality

What exactly is health care quality? We know that quality means different things to different people. While there are lots of programs with a myriad of details our responsibility is simply to focus on the things we can do to improve patient outcomes. Think of it like this: getting quality health care is like taking your car to a mechanic. The people in the shop can be friendly and listen to your complaints, but the most important thing is whether they x the problem with your car. Over the next several months we will be providing details and information about the various quality programs we participate in, how they affect you as part of the Central Utah Clinic team, and how you can help us achieve the highest quality of care for our patients. Below is a brief illustration of the programs in which we are currently participating. If you questions regarding our program call Deb Taylor, Director of Clinical and Quality Services, 801.429.8148 eck Act Plan

Provo ENT - Kipp Robins, MD

As we move into cold and u season the need for an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist rises. Kipp Robins, MD, Otolaryngologist, offers Utah Valley residents excellent relief to their winter sickness symptoms. Dr. Robins has been practicing in Provo for over 20 years. As a father of 12 children, he knows the importance of staying healthy during the winter. Regular hand washing, healthy eating habits, and maintaining regular sleep patterns are important in prevention of illness during the winter season says Dr. Robins. He sees patients of all ages and to accommodate the growth of his practice he is currently expanding and remodeling his ofce. The expansion includes additional exam rooms and the waiting room will have a Madagascar-themed cave for his pediatric patients.

His main focus is the treatment of health issues related to ears, nose, throat, sinus, neck, thyroid, parathyroid, hearing loss and imbalance in a safe and trusting atmosphere. With the help of Aaron Paxman, PA, Dr. Robins is able to accommodate more patients. Wait time for patient appointments has decreased immensely, Dr. Robins said. It used to take weeks we can usually now see patients within a week and emergent problems will be seen immediately. There is always a provider here. The ofce also has Family Audiology in-house, with audiologist Craig Sacco, Adam Ireland and Shellie Norton providing patients with all their hearing needs. Because many of our patients have hearing problems, it is much more convenient for them to be tested in the same setting as their ear examination, says Dr. Robins. The ofce is located at 2230 N. University Parkway, Suite 9B, Provo. To schedule an appointment or to make a patient referrals, call 801.375.3175. Outside of Provo, patients can see B. Kelly Ence, MD, and Randal Gibb, MD in Payson and Orem. In American Fork, and also in Orem, patients can see S. Todd Hamilton, MD.
