PREFACE
Social work study tour was conducted for the 2 nd Semester students in Social work Department in Gulbarga University. This tour will be conducted for 10 days expenditure. The tour conducted from 28-03-2010 to 07-04-2010
towards the Northern part of India.

Present study tour has organized to North India on the total consent of Chairman Lectures, tour Directors and Co-directors. For improving our knowledge in every respect we must Read the books and travel whole nation. Then only we got perfect knowledge. We make practical in the study tour. For 2nd Semester we had subject of group work, Administration, social work researches. We should try to understand this subject by practical experience.

The Northern part of India is very develop part of our nation. There is very developed in Education, NGOs. There so many big and important voluntary organization and social work departments are situated. To see and learning about those agencies is a big respectful work for student. This study tour report is not only a printed pages of book, but it is one of greatest experience of my student life.

INTRODUCTION

The Department of studies in social work Gulbarga university Gulbarga conducted a study tour as a part of its syllabus for the year 2010. It was arranged for northern part of India. The Study tour was scheduled from 2803-2010 to 07-04-2010. The place fixed for study tour was Agra, New Delhi, Jaipur, Amritsar, Mumbai, Ahmadabad, Jammu, It is assumed that the social work to be effective and to bring good result should be professionally organized and the persons engaged in its execution must necessarily be trained and qualified for the job. The students must there fore given and adequate and effective training during their training course of two years at the post graduate level. Along with the classroom discussion and field work practice in the agencies under the supervision of department staff members and of the agency Supervision, the students have to participate in the social work camp in Ist Semester and the study tour in IInd Semester. The main intention of tour was to make the students to know about the various social work agencies and social work Department and their functions. It was an apart unity to the students to widen their social work, knowledge and learn social work skills and techniques in the filed.

GULBARGA UNIVERSITY, GULBARGA Introduction :

A place where universal knowledge is imparted is called University, There are many universities in India. In Karnataka State there are seven Universities, Gulbarga is one among them. According 19+68 Act/Rule in 1980 September 10 the Gulbarga University came into existence prof. Nagaraj was the first vice Chancellor of the University. At present Proft. B.G. Mulimani is the vice Chancellor of University and Register Prof. S.L. Hiremath. Nearly more than 250- degree colleges are running under this university. All these degree college are from Gulbarga, Raichur, Bidar,

Bellary and Koppal districts. For all these districts the Gulbarga University play an important role for P.G. Level studies as a main Center. There are 39 departments in Gulbarga University, social work department is one among them. It is popular department in the University. The area of University is spread nearly 856 acres. This area is covered with full of green trees and plants. The University is locate 8 kilometers from the city. The University has achieved great success in educational filed.

express their views and to exchange idias and concept regarding social aspects and social life, for the proper understanding of the web of social relationship as well as for enhancing their practical knowledge and developing their personalities by shaping their views and perspective. * To provide an opportunity to study the Socio Cultural changes and

values, social practices and phenomena, in different parts of the country to mould their social outlook and also for enhancing their practical knowledge of the society. * To enable the students to meet eminent personalities in the field of

social work and to interact with them, learn from their experiences, and methods, see how work is done in critical situations and pick up the skill required, and building their carrier in the filed. * To study different ideas of social development, source of national and

International funds, methods, techniques and skills used by people, in implementing different types of projects, and also to know and understand the research done by the scholar, scientist and NGOs / Insitution.

1) Reservation Committee : The role of this committee was to reserve train tickets for the scheduled tour programme. It responsible was also for to make arrangement for

transportation during agencies visits and signet seeing.

The finance committee has to work for the total budge for the tour. The amount to be collected from each students and proper accounts should be maintained by it about the expenses to be met during study tour.

3) Accommodation Committee : This committee responsibility is that it list out the place were the accommodation is needed and to book the accommodation in Hotel.

Institute of Mental Health and Hospital, Agra


The institute of mantle health Hospital is established in 1859 by British. The name of institute itself indicates that it is a social service

institute which surving to the mentally ill patients for the rehabilitation. The institute being open 24 hours. The doctors devoting their life in serving to the mantle ill patients for the rehabilitation purpose.

ECT : ECT is a electronically therapy given through the electronic instrument to the mentally illness patients by the doctor. It is very important therapy, which recovers mostly the mental diseases. The recover of mental diseases is depends upon the illness of the patient after ECT. 3-5 times has given ECT to a single patients, around 25-30 patients have getting electronically theraphy in a day. The majority of people have understood that from electronic shock or ECT so many side effects are impact on the patients by there is no side affect from ECT. The no of questions. Asked by us among them one question is that what all can patients Eat ? the doctor replied that there is no restriction of food the patient can eat anything.

Later on we all vested towards where the mentally ill patients have onside and we met the patients and have the interaction with them, chronic ill patients and normal mentally disease patients we have staying there from since 25-35 years.

CLASSIFICATION OF PATIENTS BASED ON THEIR NATURE AND TYPE O MENTAL ILLNESS.


Here, the classifications of mentally ill patients have made based on or according to interest of patient the work are assigned to them. For example if

the patient have the interest or if the patients shows the inters in agriculture filed, the patient can allow to do agriculture occupation. Tailoring,

Carpentry, and other occupations also there are Rs. 25 wages given to the patients per day for their work. We have visited Auditorium Hall were the recreational activities have conducted for patients, the interested patients and some who have not interested they can also to participate and from different part of state the NGOs are having part in the recreational activity.

DR. B.R. AMBEDKAR UNIVERSITY AGRA Introduction :

The foundation of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University (originally known as Agra University), was laid on the 1st of July, 1927, as a result of hectic efforts of a band of enthusiastic educationists like, Rev. Cannon A.W. Davis, Munshi Narain Prasad Asthana, Dr. L.P. Mathur, Lala Dewan Chand, Rai Bhahadur Anand Swaroop and Dr. Brajendra Swaroop. Original Jurisdiction of University extended over United Provinces of Agra, Central India and Rajputana with 14 affiliated colleges and 2530 students of which, 1475 students belonged to United Provinces. Initially there were only four faculties in the University viz. Commerce and Law. Arts, Sciences,

Faculties of Medicine (1936), Agriculture (1938),

Home science (1938), Home Science (1980), Basic Sciences (1981), Basic sciences (1981), Fine Arts (1982) and Management (1994) were added subsequently. The University was renamed as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, in 1996. the University now caters to the educational need of the seven districts of Agra Division Agra, Aligarh, Manipuri, Hathras, Firozabad, Etah and Mathura, Besides, the University is proud of having affiliated to it, Sarojini Naidu Medical College, which is one of the oldest and premier Medical Institute of the country. INTERNATIONAL YOUTH CENTRE, NEW DELHI.

Introduction.
On We have visited to Vishwa Viveka Kendra, there we met. Director Vishwa Viveka Kendra.

A pioneering organization in the filed of youth development, Vishwa Viveka Kendra Kendra established with the active support of Pandit

Jawaharlal Nehru, and was inaugurated in 1968 by then president of India, Dr. Zakir Hussain. The Kendra has a unique history. In 1959, the executive committee of the Indian Assembly of youth come to the conclusion that if youth work has to be developed in the country on scientific lines, a national Youth Centre should be established, which would provide on a continuous basis. Training in youth work has to be developed in the country on scientific lines, a national youth centre should be established, which would provide on a continuous basis, training in youth work to the workers of youth

organization. The Committee also visualized the centre as an international meeting place of young people from all over the world. Since a centre of this type had to have a certain permanency, it was decoded to set up and independent trust, which would command the necessary respected and support. The Indian youth centers trust was set up on 11 Agust 1961 with the following trustees. Sri Morarji Desai, Smt. Indira Gandhi, Sri Naval.H. Tata, Sri. Ravindra Varama, Sri Viron.J.Shah, Sri. Ramkirshana Bajaj.

OBJECTIVES OF YOVAKA KENDRA


The objective of Yuvaka Kendra can be broadly divided into three, Viz : a) b) c) Training in Youth work. Research and documentation Promotion of international understanding

Towards these objectives, the vishwa yuvak Kendra conducts workshops, seminars and training programmes for NGOs from all o ver India and youth exchange programes internationally and has set up a library cum documentation centre equipped with latest books and information for research purpose.

Yuvaka Kendra Vision


The Kendra was set up the Indian youth centers Trust with a view to. Orient the youth to the developmental process and enable them to participate in the process of nation building. Foster initiatives for unfolding the potential of youth through a constant process of Self - Evaluation and self exploration. Enable youth to acquire such knowledge, skill and techniques, which will help them in their personal and social growth as well as foster in term sensitivity towards problem in the community. Promote national integration and international understanding by developing youth leadership and providing a forum for youth from drives backgrounds. promote regional co-operation and exchange between people of various countries. Promote research in youth work.

ACTIVITIES.
Such a broad vision can only be sustained by concrete outputs along a board range of activities. The activities of the yuvaka Kendra are therefore,

aimed at the development of youth, with inspiration drawn from the great, slogan, arise awake and stop not till the goal is reached. Training Programmes : - Conducting training programmes for youth working in NGOs across a wide spectrum of developmental activities. Seminars, conferences and workshop : Organising national

and international level seminars and conferences on subjects of concern. Field activities : This emphasizes the Kendras commitment to

practical development work and hands on development training.

Accommodation: - Yuvak Kendras hostel facilities are intended primarily for participants from India and abroad in Kendra sponsored activities. CAFETERIA: A modestly priced cafeteria caters to hostal

residents and non residents participants in Kendra activities. LIBRARY : Kendra,s library has a collection of over 9.000 books

and it subscribes to over 30 Journals. There are also videos castes, which include kendras activities and a number of documentary films on social issues. Auditorium : - Kendras auditorium has a seating capacity of 500 persons. SEMINAR HALL : - Kendra has four seminar hall of different sizes cutering to groups from 20 to 100 these are mainly used for kendras training programmes. AANCHAL MENTAL DISABLITY RESOURCE


CENTRE FOR CHILDREN AND YOOTH, NEW DELHI.
ON 30-03-2010 We have second visited for AAnchal well known disability centre in New Delhi. AAnchal is a one of the social service agency which serving to mentally disabled children indigently without getting financial assistance from Government.

About Aanchal Introduction :


AANCHAL, School for the mentally disabled set up in 1988 and is being manged by New Delhi Palika Parishad, Samaj Kalyan Samiti, a body fully funded by the MDMC. Through initially it was set up to provide composite care for persons with mental disability only through a day care centre and vocational training. AANCHAL is gradually expanding its services by developing linkages with the OPD.S in the dispensaries and hospitals through its early intervention programme. It aims at inclusive education which will eventually half in integrating the students in the help in integrating the student in the

mainstream by making them self resident and productive members of society.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES.


AANCHAL Aims to provide a range of services to all childrenand adults with mental disability to. Ensure all round development of children and youth through appropriate programmes. Ensure education of all children by adopting a rejection policy to promote inclusion. Undertake research, training and information dissemination to simsitize families of persons with disabilities and the community in the general. Rehabilitate and eventually integrated the students as for as possible in the mainstream of society through its professionally qualified staff. Services of AANCHAL Guidance and Referral unit. (Age Group 0-5 years). This is the entry point to AANCHAL. It is create to provide early intervention services to young children below the age of 6 years to facilitate school readiness in them. Services like assessment, individualized

therapeutic programme, home management programme, referral guidance and counseling service to are available.

SPECIAL EDUCATION THROUGH NATIONAL OPEN SCHOOL PROGRAMME. ( Age group 6-8 years) Student in the age group of 6 to 18 years attend the day care centre which offers a range of curricular and extra curricular activates using strategies of teaching and learning material that support special needs.

The Curriculum adapted will enable each child to work towards completing the national open school examination.

Vocational Training : (Age group above 18 years) Vocational Tranining is decided according to the potential and interest of the student the training units are. Chalk making Paper craft Tailoring Carpentry Mushroom Cultivation Rope making Pop corn making Photocopies and Candle making are offered as hobby classes for the students.

INCLUSIVE EDUCATION. AANCHAL is committed to the inclusion of children into mainstream education and works to creat awareness on inclusive education among teachers & mainstream schools. It encourages admission of students into mainstream schools.

THE NATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION, NEW DELHI INDIA.

The National Human Right Commission (NHRC) was established on oct -12, 1993. Its stuatue is contained in the protection of Human right act, 1993, and is in conformity with the paris principles, adopted at the first international workshop on national institutions for the promotion and protection of human rights held in paris in Oct-1191, and Endorsed by the General Assembly of the united Nations in Reselection 48/134 of December 20, 1993. The Commission is an embodiment of Indias concern for the promotion and protection of human right.

Definition of Human Rights.


Section 2 (d) of the protection of Human act, 1993 defines human right as rights relating to life, liberty, equality and dignity of the indidual, guaranted by the constitution, or embodies in the international convents, and conforeable by counts in India. The international covenants included in the mandate are the international covenant on civil and political rights adopted by the general Assembly of the united nations on December 16, 1966.

Functions of Commission :
The Commission has a wide mandate including civil and political rights, economics, social and cultural rights and group rights.

Section 12 days down that the commission shall perform all or any of the following functions, numely. Linquiring, suo motu, or on petitions, presented to it by victims, or any persons on their behalf, into complaints of violation of human rights or abetment there of or negligence in the presentations of such valuation, by a public servant. Visiting, under intimation to the state government concerned, any Jail or any other institution under the control of the state government, where persons are detained or lodged for purpose of treat mention or protection, to study the living conditions. Reviewing the safeguard provided by, or under, the constitution or any law of or the time being in force, for the protection of human rights, and recommending measures for their effective implementation. Reviewing the factors, including acts of terrorism, that in habit the enjoyment of human rights, and recommending appropriate remedial measure.

Power Relating to Inquires :


The commission is vested with wide ranging powers relating to inquires and investigation under section 13 of the Act while inquiring into complaints under the Act, the Commission has all the powers of a Civil Court

trying a suit under the code of civil procedure, 1908, and in respect of the following matters. Summoning and enforcing the attendance of witnesses and examining them on oath. Discovery and production of any documents. Receiving Evidence on affidavits. Requisitioning any public record or copy from court or office. Issuing commission for the examination of witnesses or documents. Any other matter may be prescribed.

Inquiry into complaints: As mentioned earlier, the commission while inquiring into complaints of violations of human rights, may, under section 17 of the Act. Call for information or reports from the Central or State Governments, or any other authority or organization subordinate thereto, within such time as specified by it. If the formation or reports are not received within the time stipulated by the commission, It may proceed in inquire into complaints. If on the receipt of information or reports, the commission is satisfied that no further inquired, is required, or that the required, is required, or that the

required action has been intiated or taken by the Government or authority concerned, it may decided not to proceed with the complaint, and inform the complaint accordingly.

Steps After Inquiry:


After completion of the inquiry the commission may, under section 18 the act, take any of the following steps. In cases of human right violation by a public servant, the commission may recommend to the Government or authority concerned, initiation of proceeding for prosecution, or any other appropricite action the commission may deem fit, against, the person concerned. Approach the supreme court or the higher court concerned for directions. Recommend to the government or authority concerned the grant of immediate interim relief to the vacationer his/her family members. Send a copy of its inquiry report together with its recommendation to the concerned government or authority and the concerned government authority shall, within a period of one month, or such further time as the commission may allow, forward its comments on the report, including the action taken or proposed to be taken there on to the commission.

subject is of generic importance, it is converted into a project I programme to be dealt by the policy research, projects and programmes division. On 01-04-2010 we have visited to Sri. Ved Mandir Balika Niketana.

Introduction:
Situated in the lap of lush greem manda forests, opposite karana Nagar Colony, Jammu, the institution was inaugurated on 29 march 2006, ( By a girl child caged 6 years ). the ground floor about 700 sft slab area of the building has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 36, Lakhs. i.e.

Eligibility :
1) Girl Children between 6 to 11 years are admitted, they can stay till the attainment of 16 years age. 2) Children who has losed both parents and have none to support are given priority. 3) Other disserving cases are considered on merits.

Facilities :
1) Children are provided food, raiment, dormitory accommodation, education, medical care and all other necessities free of any charge. 2) Emphasis is laid on childs all-round development i.e. physical, mental, intellectual, Emotional and spiritual. All activities are directed to cultivate in them love and spirit of sacrifice specially, sense of discrimination and strength of determination. 3) Vocational Tranining is also imported to enable them to stand on their feet.

SOS (SAVE OUR SOUL) CHILDREN VILLAGE.


On 01-04-2010 we have visited to SOS children village.

Introduction.
For many years there have been violent clashes in the state of Jammu and Kashmir which are due to religious conflicts between the Muslim majority and the Hindu minority as well as to strife for independence of some political group. Numerous terrorist antagonist the civil population have left score of families homeless and many children without parents, before 1994, SOS kindergarten international had already run several emergency relief.

Project in Jammu.
Concentrating mainly on the destitute women and children in the refuge camps. In 1994, numerous orphans villages were made. In 1998, SOS childrens village Jammu opened its gates. It is situated on the outskirts of the old temple city of Jammu.

Education.
All the children of SOS Balgram undergo education in various Govt. Pvt. School including SOS own school namely, Bal Bharati Public School, which is located within the premises of the Balgun. A galance at the following statement shall give a clear picture of various schools where our children are studying as well as number of student in each class. Out of 94 children, who breadwinners have been killed by the militants, 21 are boys and 7 are girls. There are 2 children who are earth quake victims also.

As per management policy boys are allowed to continue their higher secondary till settlement /Rehabilitation or higher education. Girls inmates are allowed to continue their studies till graduation/ higher studies or till their marriage.

Coaching :
Extra In balagram coaching, in the evening hours is being provided round the year. Sri Sanjay Bhatt is teaching 9th and 10th classes. Sri Jai Gopal Supervisor is looking after the coaching of 6 th, 7th and 8th coaching by an inmate master Tara Chand and Priyanka and sunita Urdu is being taught by Sri Jai Gopal.

Children Health Centre


The children Heath centre is housed in Belgram with three bedded isolation ward functioning smoothly. The centre is fully equipped. It is also catering to outside patients of the area like slumn areas, transport Nagar Etc.,

Grant in Aid.
The Govt of J & R social welfare Department and Health and medical education Department are providing yearly grant-in-aid to SOS / Children village. Last Year an amount of s. 35,000/- was sanctioned by the Health and M. Education Department. Social Welfare Department released a grant of 1,18,500/-

Balagram Charitable trust.

Blagram charitable Trust was established in the year 1999 with five trustees, who are life member of the SOS Association. The trust takes care of higher education of the children as well as their rehabilitation. It also takes care of medical treatment of the children, if so required, as also marriage of girl inmates.

BHAGWAN MAHAVEER VIKALANG SAHAYATA SAMITI, JAIPUR.

Introduction.
Bhagwan Mahaveer Vikalang Sahayata Samati, Limb Centre, S.M.S. Hospital / Medical college, Jaipur (after called a Society) is a non government, voluntary, non-religious, non-sectarian, non-political society for

helping the handicapped, particularly the resources. It was set up in march, 1975 as one of the long-term human welfare project.

Objectives
The main objective of the society is physical, economic and social rehabilitation of the physically handicapped, enabling them to regain their self respect and human dignity as also to become normal and useful remembers of the community pursuant to this, main emphasis of the society is on providing. a) Artificial limb, and other rehabilitation aids, appliances etc to amputees. b) Calipers, modified footwear and other rehabilitation aids/appliances to polio affected and other disabled persons. c) Hearing aids to persons who are hard of hearing. d) Medicines and special shoes, etc to persons suffering from leprosy. e) Various type of financial and other support for self employment and economic and social rehabilitation of the handicapped. f) Scientific and technical research in developing and improving aids and appliances for handicapped and also in other sector related to the handicapped.

SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE SOCIETY Focus on the most deserving.


A survey conducted by us reveals that most of the handicapped in India are below the poverty line. Indeed, disability and poverty of ten

compliment and compound each other. The problem is future complicated by the lack of education. In this backdropt, the society has evolved an-

appropriate, simple, informal, humane and patient friendly delivery system under which crlifical limbs, callpers, other aids and applinaers, economics, assistance and other help are provided easily and free of charge.

SPECIAL VALUE SYSTEM


A) Help and not charity
Patients their self respect and dignity are the focus of the society. Through the society gives free assistance, it is ensured that the donor and the recipient beneficiary recognize this as help rather them charity, so that the self respect of the latter is not belitted. In fact the effort is to enhance it.

Assistance is being provided without any distinction of caste, creed, religion or region. Among our other beneficiaries are Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis and other. Mobile on the spot fitment camps


Besides providing artificial limbs, calipers and other help at jaipur and other centers, the society also holds a large number of mobile camps every year in various parts of the country. Recently done damp in the Srilanka, where artificial limbs, calipers, etc, are manufactured and provide done the sport. Such camps have also been held in several countires of Asia, Africa and Latin America

SABARMATI ASHRAM.
On his return from south Africa, Gandhiji founded the sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedbad on 25th of May 1951. Ashram than became a centre for the freedom struggle and a tub of constrictive activities from promoting a non-violent society. Through, Ashram is better known and remembered among people for the historical salt March started from here Gandhiji left the Ashram on 12th March 1930. for his march on foot to village called Dandi, with 78 companions lives on salt. In 1947 India became free but the nation soon lost the father in 1948 And nation Gandhi memorial fund was raised by the Gandhi Smarka Nidhi with a view to perpetuates his memory It was than decided to preserve this riverside Ashram as nation heritage. These came into existence the sabarmati Ashram preservation and memorial trust in 1951. In 1963 the museum building come up and memorial were than started here.

The home provides facilities to deprived and destitute children admitted by Child Welfare Committee Suburban Mumbai. EVALUATION
The students successfully completed the study tour with co- operation

of under the able guidance of Tour Director Dr. K.S. Malipatil Sir. And Dr. Yallaling.R.Kalnoor Sir. The Various planned programme and dialy routine was successfully carried out as per the plan made. The study tour is very essential and usefull

to the students of social work. We visited all the agencies wish was according the plan of action. The purpose of the tour was served; with this we can say that tour was effective and useful to the students.

Suggestions
Given Suggestion for tour is very easy, but to manage a tour is difficult job. Although I know its difficult I want to suggest something. 1) 2) 3) Collect fund tour student less as much as possible. Its a study tour so give first preference to agency visit. Student must curry fewer luggages.
