13 Procedure
Mini Access and Inspection Chambers 13.1 The chambers must be installed in the vertical position and bedded on a 100 mm layer

of selected as-dug or granular material with the invert to line and level. If concrete is used, the chamber should be bedded into position while the concrete is still wet so that it takes the shape of the chamber base (see Figures 1 and 2). 13.2 Connections to the access chamber are made by removing the blanking-off stopper, where fitted, from the socket to be jointed and pushing in the lubricated pipe end. 13.3 The chambers are cut to suit the finished ground level using a fine-toothed saw. Any high spots should be removed to ensure even bedding of the frame (see Figure 2). 13.4 Backfilling is carried out using compacted, selected as-dug or granular materials as specified in the Hepworth literature and the relevant national Building Regulations. 13.5 During backfilling, the cover and frame should be placed in position to prevent the ingress of foreign matter. 13.6 Precautions must be taken to protect the access chamber from damage by construction site traffic. Deep Access Chambers 13.7 For the Deep Access Chamber to suit the finished ground level, a riser assembly can be omitted and/or the top section adjusted for height and angle. 13.8 The chamber is used with a Hepworth ductile iron cover and a frame. When installed in accordance with Figure 3(a), it is suitable for use where covers to BS EN 124 : 1994, Class A15, are applicable or,
