1. When I was in High school, there is an organization called Coro Andreano. This organization comprises musically inclined high school students of St. Andrews School. I was a member of this organization from my sophomore year to my senior year as a bass singer. During my coro days, we were able to sing at many masses and important events like our annual mission fair and we always get a compliment from the students, teachers and the other staffs of our school. Our organization was also the most famous organization in our school until these days. Therefore, this proves that the Coro Andreano were able to achieve their goals which is to glorify the Lord through the art of music and to touch other peoples heart through the art of music. To attribute this in Orgabeh, I could say that in the group behavior model, the path that led us to achieve our goal is the external conditions imposed in the group. To be exact, the selection process of the members. When I was in my senior year, I was the Coros vic e president and the voice leader of all basses so it means, I was part and I was able to witness the selection process of members. The process goes like this. The voice leaders of each voice sections, Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass, would be the judge of the auditions but the final decision would come from our conductress. First, we shall hear the candidates sing and we shall grade them based on their voice quality, tonality and range. But the biggest point would come from our conductress. After the song was presented, she would ask the candidate if how much commitment he or she could give to the organization. Because she would always say that commitment is the key to become the best choral singer because when you are committed to something, you will be able to give time and effort to excel in that field. In the end, the dedicated members who are accepted would sing very well. Therefore, the excellence of this organization is due to the external condition which is the selection process of the members.

For group structure in the group behavior model, I could say that the leadership of our conductress led us to achieve our goals. First, let us define what leadership is. According to our Orgabeh class, it is the ability to influence group toward the achievement of goals. I could say that our conductress has this ability to influence her members because she treats us as if she owns us. This creates a light relationship between her and us. Through this, we were motivated more to give our best because we feel that we sing as a one big family and there is no wall between us and our leader. At first, singing is just a hobby for me until I discovered that singing is not just a hobby but an art that creates magic to the lives of the listeners. Through her great influence, she was able to ignite a fire in our hearts. I can still remember during those times that she would let us listen to sound of the piano as we lay asleep. Through this, we were able to appreciate and love music. Another thing that she does is every time that we shall have our performance, she would explain the meaning of the song first and through this, she will be able to set up the mood that song needs. Later on, we will realize that we are already singing from our hearts. After the performance, we could the see the smiles on the faces of everybody who listened to us. They would come and compliment us for a job well done. Nowadays, even if we, my batch mates, are already alumni of S.A.S., the fire still continues to ignite. Actually, I am a current member of Coro San Benildo, a friend of mine is a current member of Mapua Cardinal Singers and another friend of mine is a member of the UP Madrigal Singers. So, most of us continued to be a choir member in our different colleges and universities. In fact, the two people who entered Mapua cardinal singers and UP madrigal singers were very shy at first but as we graduated high school, through the influence of our conductress, our extreme love for music made us

brave and we were able to have the courage to develop more in music even through entering a different choral groups again. We are already alumni of our dear alma mater yet, her influence continues to ignite in our hearts. Therefore, her power to influence was able to touch us and ignite the fire in our hearts and until now, it continues to ignite and as time passes by, this passion gets bigger and bigger. For Group member resources portion, our general skill, which is singing, made us achieve our goals as the Coro Andreano. All of us possess this talent or skill and this allows everybody from the organization to do their part which is to sing to give glory to God Through the art of music and to touch other peoples heart through the art of music.

2. When I was a fourth year student, I joined the St. Andrews School Courier, an organization of writers who are responsible for the campus paper. But based on my assessment, this organization did not perform well. We are supposed to create one issue per grading so we should have created 4 issues. But during that year, the organization was only able to create one issue. Based on my observations, on the path of external conditions imposed in the groups, we had a problem in the formal regulations. There were no formal regulations. All you have to do is to pass an article. There were no imposed regulations regarding deadlines on the articles so you can pass it anytime you want and if you dont pass it, they dont mind. We didnt have constant meetings. If there will be a meeting, it will cover only the organizations officers. Regular meetings were not imposed to be a formal regulation knowing the fact that regular meeting is necessary to keep the organization alive and to

update the members on what is the current situation of the organization. So we worked on an organization with blind folds in our eyes. We didnt know whats happening and we didnt know if the organization still exists and this fact led the organization not to perform well in the campus. In the path of group member resources, the organization had a problem regarding with skills of the members of the organization. Well personally, I would admit that I dont really have what it takes to be a campus paper writer and yet, due to my gay friends influence, I entered the organization. There was a screening in which I have to write my own article. I didnt give my whole best for that but because the chief editor was a close friend of mine, I was able to enter the organization even the fact that I dont excel that much in writing and literature. Also, I have seen the other articles of my co- members and I could say that most of us still need a lot of improvement in writing in a manner that, a campus journalism teacher, who has a degree in journalism, told us right in front of the class that our school paper is piece of a trash and it is meant to wipe butts. Lastly, there was no training to enhance our skills in writing and because of that; the skills of the members did not develop as well as the organizations performance. In the of the group structure, there was a problem regarding the leadership of our leader in the organization. Suppose the leader has the ability to influence others. But basically, our chief editor does not have that ability. He is a quiet type of person. He writes well in English. In fact he is the top 1 of their section. But the only problem is, he was not able to influence his members. Due to that the members were also not influenced to achieve the goal of the organization. There was also no satisfaction on the side of the members. I can still remember that my friends, who are members of the courier, would say that it was irritating that they

created so many articles yet, 1 issue of the campus paper only came out. Therefore, there was no satisfaction because the organization has no direction at all and the goal to create four competitive issues of our school paper was not met because the leader was not able to set a direction on how the organization would achieve their goal.

3. The organization that I am a member and which I felt the most satisfaction as a member is the Coro San Benildo. It is an organization which comprises of musically inclined students of De La Salle- College of Saint Benilde. Coro San Benildo is a very competent organization of CSB, they were able to win a lot of international Choral Competitions.Based on the external conditions the performance, evaluation and reward system made me satisfied as a member of this organization. The performance evaluation system of Coro San Benildo is through octet test in which 2 members from the sopranos (Soprano 1 and Soprano 2), 2 members from the altos (Alto 1, Alto 2), 2 members from the Tenors (Tenor 1 and Tenor 2) and 2 members from the basses (Bass 1 and Bass 2) shall perform a choral piece which will be given by our conductor. After the performance, our conductor will evaluate us one by one, depending on our performance. This kind of performance evaluation gives me satisfaction because I know that I am improving in music. Though there are times that I perform badly but yet it gives me more motivation to aim higher and improve more. Regarding the reward system, as studentartists, we are granted to have subsidy in our tuition fee. In my case, I already have 70% subsidy and this could increase to a 100% when I perform well as a member of Coro San Benildo. This kind of reward system creates satisfaction and in my part as a member of this organization. Because I am able to study in an institution with a high standards and with a

beautiful name at a lower tuition fee. Therefore, Coro San Benildos reward system and performance evaluation made me feel the most satisfaction as a member of the organization. Based on the path of group member resources, my talent in music made me feel the most satisfaction as a member. My real intention why I joined Coro San Benildo is to grow more in music. As I joined Coro San Benildo, we had a lot of trainings and our conductor taught us the right way of singing and this technique of singing relieved all the tension in my neck while I am singing. And also, I could hear myself while I am singing and I could say that my voice has changed a lot already. It has improved a lot. Therefore, my skill in music allows me to achieve my aim which is to improve in music. Whenever there is achievement of goal, there will be satisfaction. Through the achievement of my goal, I could say that there is satisfaction in my part as the member of the Coro San Benildo. On the path of group structure, I could say that Sir Geologo, Coro San Benildos choral conductor, has a good sense of leadership. A while ago, I told you that my former choral conductress ignited the fire in my heart but on the case of Sir Gealogo, he was able to continue the fire burning and even make it bigger. He has a specific goal. This goal is always being stated during our rehearsal. He wants each and every one of us to be a world class artist. Therefore, he has a specific direction for Coro San Benildo. He wants Coro San Benildo to have members with world class artistry levels. It gives satisfaction in my side as a member because I can see the direction that he wants us to take. Also, his ability to influence is very awesome. He is a true Alagad ng Sining. He influences us by saying a lot of inspirational words from different artist. An example would be; Hindi kayo mag eexcel sa music kung wala sa puso ninyo ang ginagawa ninyo. His very beautiful voice quality is another element that he uses to influence us. Most of the time, he would sing a song for us and through that, we will be able to see how he sings very

Conde, Rei Florentino C.

well and we are able to imitate it. He is really a good leader of an organization. In fact, he is one of the persons who pursued me not to be a mediocre artist. Because at the time when I entered Coro San Benildo, I have this tendency to be contented with being a mediocre. He has changed my perspective of my musical ability level by means of giving words of wisdom that being mediocre is not good and to be a true artist, you need to beat yourself.
