Density based intelligent traffic light controller using Atmel controller

ABSTRACT:

Normally, we will have the traffic signal lights programmed for a particular time intervals. But, here we will generate the traffic light signals based on the traffic, on the particular time. This type of traffic light signalling is now a day used in all the metropolitans. In present days power conservation or saving is one of the main issues of this country, there are lot of techniques employed to reduce the power consumption, and here we take example of street light management system and a small solution for way to reduce power consumption using present technologies. To monitor the density of the traffic, we will be keeping the few I !ensors in the besides the road and depends upon the signals from the sensors the timing of the traffic signals will be changed. The sensors output is given to a comparator to digiti"e the output. Street light is a system which is used to manage the street light and also aim to save power from unnecessary usage. Initially all the street lights are off from morning # $% to # &%. Then all street light is 'N for period of #&% to ()&%.$fter ()&% street

lights will be alternately switched 'N and '** for every +) minutes up to #$%. Because normally people are outside nearly up to ()&% after () &% to morning #$%.This is automated system which will automatically control the operation of street lights using ,- and timers. it will control the light 'N and '** sequences.
