STATEMENT OF PURPOSE BRITISH CULTURAL STUDIES MA

After carefully considering my aptitudes, interests and the nature of my training, I have decided to pursue the British Cultural tudies !A" !y undergraduate education at the #aculty of $etters Craiova has provided me %ith a strong and comprehensive &ac'ground in (nglish $anguage and $iterature" )he curriculum included &asic courses such as* )he +er& ,hrase, )he -oun ,hrase, )he imple entence ynta., -eoclassicism and /omantism or the +ictorian Age, and also interdisciplinary courses such as* (nglish $iterature and Civili0ation or Interte.tuality" #rom an early age, since I learnt ho% to read, I have &een really passionate of any 'ind of %ritten su&1ects that could stimulate my imagination and satisfy my curiosity and my desire of learning ne% things* literature, history, legends, myths or philosophy" I am 'een to find out more a&out the %ay of thin'ing of %riters and philosophers related to their lives in a specific period" !oreover, I thin' life and 'no%ledge are made up of interrelated things, so &eing a specialist only in a particular field is not sufficient, &ecause for e.ample literature is related to many other fields such as psychology, philosophy, sociology or history" )hin'ing and feeling li'e this, I have decided to study at the British Cultural tudies Center from a desire to continue my studies in this area, and I strongly &elieve that my undergraduate studies have laid the foundation for a successful master, %hich %ill allo% me to &e part of a great community of students and researchers" !oreover, one of my greatest advantages in studying in this programme is its interdisciplinary approach, %hich %ould allo% me to &e fle.i&le and satisfy my need of learning ne% and interesting things" )herefore, gaining deep 'no%ledge in these interrelated fields %ill enhance my analytical s'ills and %ill provide me the instruments to &e successful in my future career" I am loo'ing for%ard to 1oining your department as a graduate student"
