REQUIREMENT ANALYSIS AND FEASIBILTY STUDY

This chapter describes the transformation of requirement specification to feasibility study. After collecting all the requirements of the user, feasibility of the software is determined. This phase ensures that all the requirements are mapped to the design phase.

2easibility study is the process of determination of whether or not a process is worth doing. 2easibility studies are under ta,en within tight time constraints and normally culminate in a written and oral feasibility report. It too, one wee, to determine feasibility for this pro4ect. 2easibility study helped as a sound basis for deciding how to precede the pro4ect. It helped in ta,ing decisions such as which software to use, hardware combinations, etc. The following is the process diagram for the feasibility analysis. In the diagram, the feasibility analysis starts with the user set of requirements. -ith this, the e5isting system is also obser#ed. The ne5t step is to chec, for the deficiencies in the e5isting system. 'y e#aluating the abo#e points a fresh idea is concei#ed to define and quantify the required goals. The user consent is #ery important for the new plan. Along with, for implementing the new system, the ability of the organi"ation is also chec,ed. 'esides that, a set of alternati#es and their feasibility study is an important part in the software de#elopment.

Technical feasibility determines whether the wor, for the pro4ect can be done with the e5isting equipment, software technology and a#ailable personnel. This concerns specifying the equipment and software that will satisfy the user requirement.

8conomic feasibility determines whether there are sufficient benefits in creating to ma,e the cost acceptable, or is the cost of the system too high. This signifies cost9benefit analysis and sa#ings. :n the behalf of the cost9benefit analysis, the proposed system is feasible and is economical. (uring economical feasibility test, a balance between :perational economical feasibilities is maintained, as the two are conflicting.2or e5ample the solution that pro#ides the best operational impact for the end user may also be the most e5pensi#e and, therefore, the least economically feasible. 2or calculating the de#elopment cost, the certain cost categories were e#aluated; <a= Personnel cost <b= 6omputer usage <c= 3oftware cost
