They look way too young to have them all. I know hundreds of dog breeders and ma ny opt to start taking litters out long before they've even starting their vacci nation cycles. The argument is that young socialization (even before 8 weeks) co mpletely alters a dog's temperament; it makes them more social, happier, more st able, more adaptable, more forgiving. Many breeders and trainers and behaviorist s believe it's worth the risk. As a person who found and raised a puppy with parvo and dealt with that nightmar e, I choose to wait until about 2.5-3 months, when they've done all of their pup py booster shots and we're waiting on rabies. Then, I only take them to places w here they won't be exposed to infected animals feces. permalinkparent [ ]slingbladerunner 6 points 1 hour ago I work with dogs at an animal shelter as a volunteer; we don't allow puppies to socialize with non-puppies until six months, after they've had their full round of vaccines. No walks, and many volunteers aren't even allowed to come in contac t with them. After six months they get near constant attention from us. Puppies are rarely in the shelter for more than a couple days and almost always are hous ed in groups, though, so they don't really care. They also stress the importance of not socializing with adult dogs until their l ast round of vaccines, and to get around the whole socialization-from-the-startis-super-important thing they offer free "puppy romp" classes, even for dogs not adopted from the shelter. Every time I see someone with a fresh puppy at the dog park I have to fight REAL LY hard not to be one of those nosy, pushy dog owners, because parvo is not pret ty. permalinkparent [ ]VonIsengard 8 points 1 hour ago Six months? That's super extreme. Zero exposure to the world up until six months will create really difficult training and socialization problems for some puppi es. It doesn't really make sense to allow a puppy class with that policy- there's no guaranteeing what the puppies who some to that class have been exposed to, eith er. I warn my clients against things like dog parks and very high traffic areas unti l their puppies have had all their combos (parvo/lepto/corona, etc) which is usu ally around four months. At some point the benefits outweigh the risk- but I suppose that depends on how high risk the area you live in is. permalinkparent [ ]dick_farts91 4 points 35 minutes ago we got a huge german shephard puppy from a breeder that was around 6 months and hadn't been socialized. he was impossible to deal with around strangers and we e nded up having to get rid of him. 2 years of working with him daily and we still couldn't get him to not want to murder anything that came through the front doo r. we gave him to a family with a farm and a few other shephards. last i heard t hey have to keep him in the back because they haven't been able to make any prog ress either. sweetest dog ever if your part of his family. jumping barking death machine if your not. SOCIALIZE YOUR PUPPIES PEOPLE. permalinkparent [ ]VonIsengard 2 points 32 minutes ago It's funny you say that, because I'm very experienced in shepherds and had them in mind when I made my post. Isolating a young GSD can have disastrous effect. permalinkparent [ ]dick_farts91 2 points 29 minutes ago ya the more i look back the more i realize this breeder wasn't very good. shame too because that dog was beautiful. completely jet black. at 6 months he was alr eady bigger than his mother permalinkparent load more comments (1 reply) [ ]meeooww 3 points 20 minutes ago

This is correct (well, skip the corona vaccine, but that's another discussion). I cannot imagine worse advice that keeping dogs away from other dogs until they are six months old. I mean, this actually makes me angry, because this is how un -trained anti-social fear-aggressive dogs end up IN god damn shelters. No, parvo's not pretty, I'd venture an educated guess that more dogs are put dow n due to fear and aggression every year than die of parvo. permalinkparent load more comments (1 reply) load more comments (2 replies) [ ]growls 5 points 1 hour ago I would guess these pups are some sort of spaniel mix, but could be pure spaniel s as well. I was thinking King Charles Spaniels or something like it. In general those are smaller dogs, but these pups do not look like they are at a ll old enough to have go through their full round of immunizations. So those of you that are curious, yes that makes them very highly susceptible to getting parvovirus. Parvo, for the layman, is something that puppies can get wh en exposed to public places (not just other dogs, other humans, and other places as well). It kills them often (but not always) and it is a very painful death. It is generally recommended that anyone with a puppy abstain from taking the pup py anywhere but their home and the vet until their full round of shots are done. Further it is recommended new pups have limited contact with anyone outside the ir immediate 'family' until shots are done as well. That is because anyone and e verything can trail along Parvo. Humans can bring it on the bottoms of their fee t, others dogs can have it on their paws and other animals can spread it to diff erent location. Some of you might be thinking, "That takes all the fun out of having a puppy! I want to show it off to my friends and the general public! I will get so much ass with a puppy!." That might be true and there is only a chance your puppy would get parvo. Meanin g just because you walk your pup it doesn't mean it will get this virus and die a slow and painful death, but the truth is this. Parvo is out there, it kills a lot of dogs every year and most of the time it is preventable if new dog owners would do proper research before 'buying' a dog. When you bring another earthling into your home and make it one of your family, whether it is a dog or an adopted child, you agree to be a responsible caregiver to that earthling. It's life is in your hands. You are expected to take all rea sonable precautions to prevent untimely death. Don't be an idiot. You don't have to lock the puppies in a closet but don't take it down main street where there is the most town foot traffic to show off your brand new dog and possible expose it to a deadly illness. From looking at the OP's past post history I would guess that she/he is a backya rd breeder. I have a hard time believing any reputable dog breeder would take br and new pups down a main road (which is what the photo looks like) and possibly exposing them. And if you are a backyard breeder you are more of a problem for c anine society than anything good. We don't need people who don't know what they are doing breeding dogs. I could be wrong. These pups could be 18 weeks old, had their full lines of shot s and come from champion bloodlines. permalink [ ]Quinny86 3 points 1 hour ago A lot of people thought that my pup wasn't old enough to be out walking when he actually was, I got a lot of dirty looks from ignorant people. permalinkparent [ ]growls 3 points 1 hour ago Yeah, that why I said at the bottom I could be wrong. This is the breed I own, and contrary to the poster who claims the two he knew were stupid and ho stile, my dog Max is gentle, playful, absolutely wonderful with children, and th e most well-behaved animal I've ever taken care of. If the dogs acted stupid, it's not because they were stupid, but probably becaus e they were far smarter than anyone thought, and not training an intelligent dog properly leads to anti-social behavior. Try leaving a Jack Russel Terrier to his/her own devices - they'll destroy your entire house, at least at a height of about 4 1/2 feet. permalinkparent [ ]hacelepues 4 points 2 hours ago I love CKCs. Not having all your vaccinations + public places = bad things. permalink [ ]Whiptail 8 points 2 hours ago Right, everyone loves bringing their tiny cute puppies out and about but until t hey are vaccinated they should not walk any ground where other dogs may have bee n. Having worked in an animal shelter and a vet clinic I've seen very ill and dy ing puppies whose owners had been walking them before their vaccinations were co mplete. Something else for people to keep in mind is that when you're in the wai ting room of a vets with a young animal, the floor is lava. Putting them down on the ground where lots of sick animals have been, for even a moment, is a really bad idea. You'd be surprised at how many people don't realise this. permalinkparent load more comments (10 replies) [ ]MikeOrtiz 2 points 3 hours ago Y'all shall not pass! permalink [ ]3058250 2 points 3 hours ago Reminds of those magnetic fluids. kind of want to see a heard of 100 puppies now . permalink [ ]seemripper 2 points 2 hours ago I hope they've had their parvovirus shots. permalink [ ]BellyLintMiner 2 points 2 hours ago I have never before seen such a hoard of ruby cavs. Good one! lol permalink [ ]Patches67 2 points 2 hours ago Did all of that come out of one mom? They are WONDERFUL dogs. Everyone who encounters them loves them and they love back! Our male we got from a breeder ( not show quality but we were looking for a pet - he's too large for showing). He has a great, funny personality. Our female we got FREE because the child from h er first family was found to be profoundly allergic to her and they needed to re -home her! We lucked out when we found the flyer. She was 4 - 5 now - she was al ready spayed, chipped and had all of her shots up do date. We had been thinking of getting another when she became available. They are grea t pets! permalinkparent [ ]meatsam555 2 points 1 hour ago cockapoos? permalink [ ]I_LOVE_LIONS 2 points 1 hour ago Man, I just can't get over how much I love lions. permalink [ ]tsbneofreak 2 points 1 hour ago Lol that other dog is giving them the death stare permalink [ ]cginotti 2 points 1 hour ago what kind of dogs are those on the left? permalink [ ]GrayFox181[??] 2 points 1 hour ago So much cuteness permalink [ ]KingCammy 2 points 1 hour ago Aww zoe's first walk permalink [ ]Todders077 2 points 1 hour ago Dibs on the pup in the back, he does his own thing. permalink [ ]Blueeyedfire 2 points 1 hour ago
