COURSE OVERVIEW This course introduces students to the concepts currently being used in the field of Project Management. Project Management is designed to build and expand the foundation of knowledge needed by successful managers. The purpose of this course is to expose students to the real-life issues in project management, and equip them with necessary tools to resolve these issues. Use of quantitative techniques is supplemented by softer skills of leadership and human resource management. COURSE OBJECTIVES At the end of the course, the student will be able to: Define and explain project management and project leadership. Understand and apply the sequential steps of the project management framework. Understand the importance and function of project management and apply the project process of initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing the project. Understand issues in each phase of project life cycle
Class participation (including arriving on-time) is an integral part of the learning process. Doing the readings prior to class is compulsory. Quiz Policy Quizzes will be conducted at random during the course of studies. These will be unannounced quizzes. During a Quiz, same rules will be followed as those followed in an examination. Quiz duration would be minimum of 5 minutes and maximum of 10 minutes. Students will not be provided with any extra time. When students are advised to stop writing they are expected to do so. If not, the quiz will not be collected and graded which will ultimately result in a lower grade. Written Assignments There will be both individual and group Assignments. The report for each assignment should not exceed the maximum length of 10 pages while using ARIAL/TIMES NEW ROMAN font (size 12) and 1 line spacing excluding the front page and references. The
marks would be allocated only to those students whose name(s) are present on the front page of the report therefore; the front page should include name(s) of all the group members. Students are advised to refrain from plagiarism otherwise it will not only lead to a zero score but may also lead to disciplinary action. Note Students must complete each component of the assessment to the satisfaction of the course instructor. All components of the above assessment are compulsory, and must be completed in order to obtain a pass grade. Students are expected to perform satisfactorily in each item. Please refer to the Bahria University Student Handbooks discussion on plagiarism and academic honesty. Using information from other sources and not citing the source is plagiarism, a form of cheating. If you are working with other students, please remember that failing to contribute adequately to the project but taking full credit for others efforts is cheating and will be punished appropriately.
