Introduction

Scaldis: lifting at a higher level

From the early offshore renewable days Scaldis has been a key player in the rapidly growing sector of renewable energy. Whilst Scaldis served in various disciplines of this market, the majority of the works concentrated around the installation of jackets and substations.

Scaldis executes its offshore activities with two heavy lift vessels, the

Rambiz (lifting capacity 3,300 tonnes) and Norma (400 tonnes). A third heavy lift vessel is presently under construction (lifting capacity 4,000 tonnes) and will be available as from Q2 2014.

Our activities include:

and transformer units,

Transport and installation of concrete foundations/structures, jackets ROV surveys, piling, levelling, grouting and welding, Transportation and installation of metmasts and wind turbine generators,

Transportation and installation of current turbines.

Step 1

- Barge loaded with jackets and moored in front of the Rambiz. - Jacket is positioned under Rambiz crane hook and rigging connected to Rambiz hook.

Step 2

- Jacket seafastening disconnected. - Jacket lifted free from grillages.

Step 3

- Barge towed away from Rambiz.

Step 4

- Jacket lowered into the water. - Set down at position.

Step 5

- Pile is placed into jacket sleeve.

Step 6

- Piling operations.

Step 7

- Pile in position. - Hammer is removed.

Step 8

- Piling operations repeated for all sleeves. - If necessary levelling operations can be started.

Step 2

- Jacket seafastening disconnected. - Jacket lifted free from grillages.

Step 3

- Barge towed away from Rambiz.

Step 4

- Jacket lowered into the water above pile location.

Pre-piled jackets

09

Step 5

- Jacket is above pre-installed piles by Rambiz. - Assistance by survey equipment and ROV monitoring during installation.

Step 6

- The leg with the longest stabbing point is now positioned into the pile and lowered, monitoring by ROV. - The jacket is lowered by the Rambiz cranes until the second stabbing point is into its pile. - When the two stabbing points are in position, the jacket will be further lowered.

Step 7

- Jacket is lowered further by Rambiz cranes. - ROV monitoring.

Step 8

- Jacket is lowered until contact has been made between the jacket shim plates and the piles. - Rigging is disconnected. - Grout operations can commence.
