When I was younger I used to hang around with my brother and his friends.

One of his friends at the time, Calum, played guitar and bass which had a big impact on my musical taste. He listened to alternative/punk music and at this age I hadn t really heard anything e!cept the music on the radio. I en"oyed the music Calum played and it inspired me to learn guitar and create my own music. I however didn t start playing guitar until I was ##. In year #$ I chose music as one of my %C&'s and I decided to take playing guitar more seriously and started seeing a tutor. &ince having a tutor I have learnt a lot about music theory and have progressed as a musician. (hroughout the ne!t two years would use )* &tudio at home to compose my own music however I didn t really en"oy this software or know how to use it properly. In year ## the school got i+acs with *ogic ,ro - on them, although this was my first time using *ogic, I picked it up very .uickly and ended up buying it within the month. Once I had started college I began setting up my own home studio by purchasing synthesi/ers, a mi!er, microphones and effects pedals. I developed a fondness for effects pedals and ended up buying a large .uantity of them, still going infact and started a blog reviewing the pedals I have purchased. &ince being at college I have developed more as music technician learning to use *ogic to a higher standard and how to use mi!ers. +y taste in music has broadened and instead of "ust listening to alternative music I en"oy music such as "a//, shoega/e, dreampop, trance and many other genres. I am open to listening to anything I haven t heard before to e!pand my music taste. I decided to undertake a national diploma in music technology as I have a strong interest in music production and because it allows me to focus on developing my skills as a music technician. I also took this course as I would like to further my knowledge of the music industry and learn how to get a "ob within it. While at college I have learnt .uite a few skills. Over the course of one year so far I have learned how to analyse a piece of musics sonic and musical elements, create music and sound for a moving image, how to mic up various instruments and how to compose and record an ',. I have also gained knowledge on copyright and other areas of the music industry. In the ne!t year I wish to learn more about psychoacoustics, further my knowledge of 01Ws and aspects of live sound. I have been attending regular weekily guitar lessons and as of early 2$#3 piano lessons. I have found this to be very helpful and has greatly improved my skills, as well as enabling me to understand the theory behind what I play. In my free time, I use *ogic to e!periment and create my own music. I have become very familar with the software and I feel this will help me in my later life to achieve my goal of becoming a composer or producer. Outside of music I have a broad and wide range of interests such as computer programming, electronics, cooking and sports such as swimming and tennis. 0ue to this I have a uni.ue range of skills, however a large percentage of my skills are music related. In my e!pierence I have worked as an electricians assistant, this lasted from 4uly 2$##5 1ugust 2$##. I did en"oy this work however I didn t find myself en"oying it as much as I thought I might.

I am interested in pursuing a career as a composer, producer or possibly a teacher. I would want to be a teacher to share my knowledge in the field and I believe it is a veryrewarding "ob. 1s a composer I would like to write music to the moving image. (oachieve these goals of mine, I will have to complete the course I am currently undergoingat college and I wish to further my education and go to university. If after university Ichoose a career in teaching I will take a teaching degree whilst working as an assistant ina school. If I decide I would rather take composing or producing path I would use clientsof the university to try and break into that field.
