William Shakespeare was believed

to be born on April 26, 1564. His hometown was Stratford-upon - Avon London He was the third child of John Shakespeare and Mary Arden. He had five siblings: Joan, Judith, Gilbert, Richard, and Edmund. William attended Kings New School in Stratford, He learned reading , writing, and the classics.

On November 28th , 1582 in Worcester

Cantrerbury Province, He married Anne Hathaway. He was 18 and she was 26 when they were married, she was pregnant when they were married. Their first child was Susana born on May 26th 1583. On February 2nd 1585 the twins Hamnet and Judith were born (At age 11 Hamnet died of unknown causes.)

There were seven years of his life that were

unrecorded There were many theories of what happened during this period like: He might have gone into hiding, he might have been working as an assistant, or he may have found work as a horse attendant at Londons finer theaters.

By 1592 He earned a living as an actor and a play writer

in London, he possibly had several plays produced. He received a lot of criticism from Robert Greene, some saying that he was going above his rank others say he was just bashing him. By the early 1590s William was a managing partner in the Lord Chamberlains Men. (An acting company in London.) In 1603 the company changed to The Kings Men, Shakespeare's work was sold as popular literature. Shakespeare attracted the attention of Henry Wriothesley, He was Earl of Southampton.

William Shakespeare wrote 37 plays, by 1597, 15 of them

were published. Records show that at this time he bought the second largest house in Stratford. (Stratford was a 4 day horse ride from London.) It is said that Shakespeare came home once a year during the 40 day Lenten period when the theaters were closed. By 1599, William and his business partners built the Globe Theater. (He purchased the lease for 440 pounds which doubled in value and it earned him about 30 pounds per year.)

Shakespeares early works were his Histories and

Comedies. His later works were the Tragedies and the Tragicomedies. The histories and comedies were: (histories) Richard II, Henry VI, and Henry V (comedies) The romantic Merchant, Much Ado About Nothing, As You Like It, and Twelfth Night.

William Shakespeare died on April 23, 1616

(his birthday) The cause of his death is still a mystery , but an entry in the diary of john says, they had a merry meeting and drank too hard, and he died of a fever new fever Today he is still very well known throughout the world.
