Ending Poverty through IDA


With IDAs help, hundreds of millions of people have escaped povertythrough the creation of jobs, access to clean water, schools, roads, nutrition, electricity, and more. During the past decade, IDA funding immunized nearly half a billion children and helped 65 million people receive health services.

The Bank and IDA have made a tremendous difference in the reconstruction of my country. As you know Liberia went through many years of conflict as a matter of fact, about 32 years of economic decline and collapse. What we need to do now is to increase IDA allocation to Liberia so that we can transform the economy to invest more in roads and energy, so we can expand the economy and create more jobs and opportunities for Liberians, which will reduce the possibility of future conflict.
