Executive Summary Please submit a 1 page summary of your business, which we will use in our program materials given to volunteers, judges and members of the community during GSEC. Your summary should address the following: Business Overview & social mission Market opportunity, solution, and market analysis Competitive analysis Estimated year of break-even profitability Estimated revenues and net income (three years) Financial and social impact summary; environmental summary if applicable Funding requirements

Business Plan All semi-finalist GSEC Teams are required to submit a full written business plan prior to GSEC. The GSEC business plan must adhere to the following minimum requirements: Format: Font/size: 11-point Arial, 10-point Verdana, or 12-point Calibri Document page size: 8 x 11 inches. No A4 size document formatting. Document size: 4MB maximum Layout:

Cover page: Business plan/team name, names of team members, names of university(ies); - Table of contents - Content requirements as detailed below - Numbered pages Length: up to 15 pages, maximum, (exclusive of title/cover page and table of contents) - In addition, a maximum of five pages of supplementary materials are allowed (such graphs, charts, appendices) -

Content: At a minimum, business plans must contain the following: 1. Executive Summary (one page maximum) Business Overview & social mission Market opportunity, solution, and market analysis Competitive analysis Estimated year of break-even profitability Estimated revenues and net income (three years) Financial and social impact summary; environmental summary if applicable Funding requirements The executive summary will also be submitted separately and used for program materials. 2. Business Overview Company description and business model Value proposition- financial and social; environmental if applicable Vision Strategy statement: how, what, who, where, why The social impact/transformation on peoples lives the business will make Current status, current or committed funding and all funding sources 3. Market Opportunity How is this plan innovative? What problem does the company's product/service solve? Define the problem, describe the need Competitive analysis (how the problem is not being solved by competitors)

4. Market solution Product or service Description of a working model or prototype, if applicable How you will address the need and solve the problem: What problem does the company's product/service solve? How significant a problem is it? Ability to create barriers to entry

Identification of customer(s) , target market Market size, analysis and forecast; industry analysis and forecast Geo-political, social and economic factors influencing your ability to serve your client group

6. Marketing and sales strategy Overall strategy Pricing policy Intellectual property strategy: What intellectual property exists and can it be protected?

7. Management team Who is involved and what is their experience? A statement describing level of involvement of students Founders & key management, industry experience, education Board of advisors (Critical-- it can augment team experience if needed) Optional: Board of directors

8. Financial projections Sources and uses of capital, and projected revenues and expenses Detailed financial data should be displayed in spreadsheet form as an appendix. Financial data should include a cash flow statement, income statement, and balance sheet. Outline overall financial model with detailed projections through Year 3 including pro forma cash flow and budget analysis Other analysis, as appropriate (i.e. break even analysis) Discuss assumptions and capital requirements

9. Social/environmental Impact analysis Definition of your Social Value Proposition (i.e., Theory of Change) Quantification of your top three Social Indicators (e.g., Social Impact Value Chain) Monetization of your social impact (i.e., Social Return on Investment) Discuss key assumptions throughout the analysis* Discuss your potential negative social or environmental impact, if any Discuss your health impact, if any, using metrics relevant to global health to quantify lives saved or deaths averted Discuss, where applicable, how you are addressing each of the following areas within your business: economic development, community involvement, environmental practices, governance, hiring and workplace practices, sourcing/supply chain Other considerations (e.g., analysis of stakeholder needs, qualitative or anecdotal social impact data)

*The social impact should demonstrate how your venture provides beyond the status quo

Presentation Guidelines and Formats PowerPoint Presentation Coaching/Preliminary/Final rounds Format: All semi-finalist teams deliver a 10-minute PowerPoint presentation in the Preliminary Rounds o Following the presentations, teams answer questions from judges for 10 minutes. GSEC does not provide a template for teams presentations; teams design their own presentation. Teams are strongly encouraged to work with their mentor to refine their PowerPoint slides and presentation prior to GSEC week. Teams have the chance to practice their presentation in the Coaching Round and to modify their presentation during GSEC. Videos of past GSEC finalist teams presentations and sample PowerPoint slides are available on the website for reference.

Trade Show Pitch Trade Show format: All semi-finalist teams deliver a one-minute pitch presentation at the beginning of the Trade Show. No audio or visual materials may be used during the pitch. o Following the pitches, teams will stand by their poster and answer questions from judges about the business idea. o During the questioning period, teams are suggested to use their poster as reference and may use additional visual aids as desired. 4

Trade Show Poster All GSEC semi-finalist teams must bring a poster to GSEC for the GSEC Trade Show and Rotary Lunch that meets the following guidelines: Dimensions: 24 inches wide; 36 inches high Posters must be mounted on poster board for trade show o If you would like us to mount it for you, please provide an electronic copy at the Check-in on Monday 2/25 at 11 am. Your poster will be ready for the Trade Show. o If you would like to mount it yourself or get it professionally mounted, you may do so at your own expense. It must be delivered to the GSEC office by noon on Tuesday, 2/26 Poster guidelines: Keep text to a minimum Include your team name in bold, easy-to-read letters Include high-impact, relevant photos Use large and easy-to-read fonts It is best to use short phrases or bullet points, not complete sentences Include information about: o o o the problem your team is addressing the solution your team proposes the impact that your project creates
