A project proposal for the use of energy efficiency in small hotels has been submitted to SID DOCKS for funding consideration.

The Barbados Light & Power commenced in 2010 a two-year pilot project on net billing which expires in July 2012 with expectations for an extension of the project. Hydropower Mollejon 25.3 MW to the grid; Chalillo 7.3 MW; Hydro Mya Limited hydropower plant in the district of Toledo 3 MW to the grid. Belize The Vaca hydropower plant which became operational in January 2010 will add an additional 19 MW to the grid. Biomass development includes a 31.5MW plant installed by Belcogen that produces electric power from the burning of bagasse. 13.5 MW excess power is sold to the national grid.

Three hydropower facilities at Lauda, Trafalgar and Padu supply 6.42 MW electricity. DOWASCO plans to develop a 200 kW hydropower plant at Newtown.
Geothermal resources development include negotiations with the Dominica selected contractor for the boring of slim holes test wells at Wottenwaven. Plans are underway for the development of a 154 MW hydropower plant at Amailia Falls on the Kuribrong River by Synergy Holdings in association with Sithe Global and supply of power to the national grid via a transmission line exceeding 250 km. Biomass development includes the installation of 2 X 15 MW turbines at the Guyana Sugar Corporation Skeldon Sugar Factory for generation of power for its own use and supply of excess power to the national grid.
An 8.46 kW grid-tied solar photovoltaic demonstration system financed by GIZ was installed in the compound of the Guyana Energy Agency. Solar home systems have been installed at every house in about 21 Guyana hinterland communities - a total of 1729 installations. Also 11,000 solar home systems are expected to be installed in about 186 communities in 2012. A Rural Electrification Project seeking to encourage sustainable energy development by alleviating poverty through economic productive activities and literacy was completed in the village of Wowetta, Region 9. This project was funded by CIDA with support from OLADE and University of Calgary/Haskayne School of Business. The total value of the project was US$101,500.

Seven hydropower plants with total installed capacity of 55 MW supply the national grid operated by electricit d'Haiti. Pligre, a hydropower plant with installed capacity of 47.1 MW is the largest. Supply of energy to approx. 1 million Haitian citizens through building of a hydropower plant (32 MW) near Mirebalais on the Artibonite River, downstream to Peligre Hydrostation during the period 2012 to 2015 with support from the Brazilian Government. Semi-autonomous electricity supply to the city of Les Cayes. 20% of the project targets power generation from renewable sources. This project which commenced in 2007 will conclude in 2013. Rural electrification project in 3 villages to be determined promoting small hydro, solar and wind energy. Collection of wind datain Cap Haitien, Lac Azui, South Coast is ongoing. 400 public lighting via solar street lights to be installed during 2012. Over 5000 units will be installed during the life span of the project. A Low Carbon Energy Road Map financed by the German Federal Government is presently being developed by the Worldwatch Institute in conjunction with the Ministry of Public Works, Transportation, Communications and Energy of Haiti and the Haitian Bureau of Mines Presented March11,2013 IDB/ CARICOM Study Tour Rome,Italy and Energy. Haiti

JPS Co's 3 MW wind farm at Munro was commissioned and became operational in October 2010 to supply the grid. The Wigton Wind farm has been expanded by 14 MW bringing the total installed capacity to 34.7 MW. Power is supplied to the national grid. In November 2008 the E10 fuel programme was launched - a blend of 10% ethanol from sugar cane and 90% 87 octane gasoline. Jamaica

A Low Carbon Energy Road Map financed by the German Federal Government is presently being developed by the Worldwatch Institute. The project which started in August 2011 is expected to be completed by January 2013.
A National Energy Information Clearing House to provide status updates on the implementation of the NEP and sub-policies, inter alia, will be launched before the end of 2012.

St. Kitts and Nevis

A 1.1 MW wind farm was commissioned at Maddens in August 2010 - power is supplied to the National grid. A 10 MW of geothermal power plant is scheduled to come on stream in 2012. Several PV pilot projects have been installed or planned including: (i) 4 kW PV system at Castries central market; (ii) 12 kW system at National Trust building, Pigeon Island; and (iii) 2 kW system at a secondary school located in the south of the island. Feasibility study of the John Compton hydropower dam is in the pipeline. Energy audits are being conducted on 75 Government-owned buildings

St. Lucia

St. Vincent The Richmond and South Rivers hydropower projects supply 1.2 MW and 1.1 MW to the grid respectively. and the Grenadines A 7.2 MW Wind Park in grid-parallel operation is planned at Ribishi Point. There are several hydropower projects in Suriname including 278 MW installed at Afobaco and Paranam for supply to the grid. Suriname Collection of wind data is ongoing at Nickerie and Galibi.

Solar water heaters standards were adopted and will be published before the end of 2012.

National electrical codes were revised and declared in September Trinidad 2011 to include Part III: Renewable Energy. The revised code is and Tobago expected to be published before the end of 2012.
