Corero Business Systems changes name to Civica

New identity for education software specialist as Civica launches integrated education business for schools and colleges 18 November 2013, London: Civica, a market leader in specialist systems and business process services that help organisations transform the way they work, has announced that group company Corero Business Systems, one of the UKs foremost suppliers of financial, student and business management systems, has adopted the Civica name following the launch of an integrated education business. Combining the software and service expertise of both organisations to help improve teaching and learning, Civica Education supplies more than 1,000 schools and colleges in the UK. During a period of significant change and mounting financial pressures, institutions are changing the way they operate to maintain and improve education services while spending less. Following the acquisition of Corero Business Systems in August 2013, during which time the company has benefitted from operating within the enlarged Group, Civica has established a single Education business with a unique combination of people, technology and sector expertise. Strengths range from award winning finance, HR and student management systems to customised online learning environments, cloud computing and fully managed ICT services. The change of name for Corero comes as the company continues to strengthen its market position, in particular in learning and school management where the business is ideally positioned to respond to customer requirements. The business continues to trade well with 15 new contracts in the 2 months from August including St Pirans Multi Academy Trust and the Leeds Jewish Free School, which both separately selected Corero to align back office administration, finance and HR functions. As Paul Staniland, Consultant at Leeds Jewish Free School, explains: I have been involved in three separate installations of Civica Resource in two other free schools and a converter academy. In each installation I have always found Civica s team professional, efficient and helpful. The software is ideal for academies. Investing some time and effort to exploit the full potential of the system produces appropriate internal management reports and returns to the EFA at the press of button. Bernard Snowe, managing director at Corero Business Systems, commented, The re-branding is the external face of the integration of Corero into Civica. We continue to develop our products, employee and customer service initiatives, and by bringing to bear the breadth and depth of capability and experience of the combined organisation, we look forward to helping customers to raise standards while reducing costs. Lee Burley, education managing director at Civica commented, Schools and colleges face increasing demands to deliver improved teaching and learning through more widely accessible and flexible services. Civicas broad education business following the integration of Corero Business Systems provides a strong and stable partner for schools and colleges with a unique combination of people, technology and sector-specific expertise tied closely to the individual learning outcomes of customers. Around the world the Civica Group supplies over 5,000 schools, colleges and libraries, including Finance and ERP applications for approximately one third of the UKs colleges and over 830 schools.
