For years, President Obama and Democrats in Congress tried to sell Obamacare by promising Americans over and over that they could keep their current health care plans if they liked them. They promised Americans they could keep their doctor. They promised middle class families they would save thousands on insurance premiums. We now know, that despite these repeated promises, Nevadans were misled in an attempt to pass the most overreaching, divisive policy in our nation's history. Millions of Americans (including nearly 25,000 Nevadans) have had health insurance plans canceled because they did not comply with provisions of Obamacare. Along with facing the largest increases in underlying premiums in the nation, many Nevadans who have received cancellation notices will now be forced into plans with higher deductibles and copays. The effects of this unworkable, unaffordable law have put nearly 100,000 Nevadans at risk for insurance cancellations by the end of next year. Its entirely possible, because of this law, that Nevada will have more uninsured residents in early 2014 than it had before Obamacare took effect. This is unacceptable and it must be fixed now. Last week, President Obama announced that his administration will "allow" insurance companies to offer non-compliant plans under the Affordable Care Act to current customers for another year. This disingenuous "fix" is nothing more than a political lifeline for Congressional Democrats who refuse to support common sense Republican legislation that would allow Nevadans to keep their

current health care plans if they like them. President Obama's "fix," which can only lead to more confusion and arguably does nothing to prevent the cancellation of nearly every individual Nevada health care plan in 2014, is now being forced upon states, including Nevada, with no legal merit or timeframe for proper implementation. Despite the devastation and uncertainty Obamacare has caused to working Nevada families and our economy, Nevada's Democrat representatives in Congress have voted against legislation that would allow Nevadans to keep their health plan, opting instead for political games and deflection. Instead of standing with Nevada families and demanding a real solution to this chaos, these representatives, including Congresswoman Titus who voted for Obamacare, have unfortunately decided to adopt a page from the President's political playbook - diverting responsibility from the Washington politicians who caused this mess. Nevadans deserve better from our elected leaders. It's past time for Congress and the President to honor the promises made to Nevadans, acknowledge their destructive mistake, and dramatically change or replace this disastrous law. Governor Sandoval is right. Obamacare is unworkable. !
